Ok so we watched it again last night, and will be watching the followup tonight (which is mercifully only 30 minutes long).
First of all, this episode was much less interesting than the first two. We’ll probably watch next week, but I’m going to petition the Mrs. to join me in the computer room so I can play a game and watch the show out of the corner of my eye.
Comments? Here goes:
Jim went from first to worst in my opinion. His singing was stiff, and he looked like he trying to pass a kidney stone while he was going.
The Whitney Houston impersonator was bad too. Her music teacher should bring her in to show kids what not to do during the “don’t sing from your throat” lesson.
The chick who looked like she wanted to join TLC, but sang like Billie Holliday was annoying too. Sound good, image bad.
What was up with the guy sporting the Milli Vanilli look? Also, how shall I put this without offending… Was “When a Man Loves a Woman” the right song for him? I’ll leave it at that.
Adriel (the one who looks like a soccer player) did pretty good. The girl who went first and the guy who went last (Cool Chris maybe?) were good too.
The chick with the attitude and the braces sucked. Worst rendition of Daydream Believer ever. And that’s saying something!
And the Chilean kareoke singer? Lol, poor guy, that was a pretty good rip.
I guess we’ll see tonight who the audience liked. I didn’t bother calling, since I don’t really care. I figure if I maintain my apathy, it’s not like I’m really watching this nonsense, it’s just on the TV while I happen to be sitting there.
Just so you don’t feel so alone . . .
Yes, I watched. I couldn’t help it. I’ll watch again tonight. I think it’s going to be between the first girl (she did “Dreamgirls,” fer cryin’ out loud!–and although she’s no Jennifer Holliday she tore that song up) and Cool Chris, who I thought was the best out of the males. Jim totally disappointed me. “Daydream Believer” was just heinous. I had to turn the volume off. If I was to vote–and I’m not–I’d go with the first girl. Although she went first, I remembered her performance through the others, and still thought she was the best.
Ah, the joys of corporate sponsorship. I know it’s often a necessary evil for these grand FOX debacles, but please? Can we be a little subtle about it, or at least crack some legitimate and intentional funny? When the host said “I feel like having an ice cold Coca-Cola” I laughed. Then I cried. Into my glass of Pepsi.
It would be something if the very first performer, of all those who are to come, ends up being the winner–if, in other words, no one will be able to best her–but I’m seeing it as a possibility.
The young lady I think her name is Ryan Starr? Heck if I know it is background noise here in the room. From what I caught on the tube was rather impressive.
Lets face it, they are most likely aiming at younger audience. I see Ryan as the “making of a Brittney” Of course, she can carry a tune better than Brittney
The boy with the Deaf parents… He kinda choked right? after the first episode I was kinda rooting for him. Not not sure if he is going to make the cut.
Just watched tonight’s episode (I’m sickened that I’m hooked on this crap), and I definitely believe that Jim being voted in as the third finalist was a sympathy vote from America following Simon’s tearing-him-a-new-one last night.
That Chris guy should’ve been the third, not Jim. Cool Chris still has a shot as a wild card, though.
But, crikeys, what the hell do I care? This is television at its most embarassing.
stv, who unfortunately knows where he’ll be next Tuesday at 9:00 p.m./8:00c
Was anyone else surprised to hear that somewhere around 3 million people called in? Geez…
Anyway, I pretty much agree with the above sentiments from stv (including the latent shame). Jim was a total pity vote, he stunk it up out there last night. I thought I was watching a different show while he was performing. In fact, I was expecting to hear a “gong” and see a dude in a clown costume with a push-broom sweep him off the stage.
Tamyra and Ryan were both good, and deserved to go on, although I would have picked Cool Chris over Ryan (something about her irks me, maybe it’s the chokers). And I definitely would have picked Adriel over Jim.
Anyway, back to work. If anyone bumps into me on the street and asks me about this show, I shall deny everything.
You must be clairvoyant! All three were good. Christina seems to be the only one that can sustain a note without a barrel of crappy ornamentation. My vote is for her. Or Tamyra. But Justin is cute.
