Oh Yeah!! Was there any doubt? RUUUUUBEN!!!
Plain and simple I come in like this:
Was Clay a good Singer? -> No. He was sensational!
Was did Clay have soul? -> UUHH??? Not really, he had to work at it.
Clay got better and better throughout the whole series. He worked his ass off. But Ruben just simply had more soul!
Ruben could sing till no end, the boy simply had an overflow of soul right down to his keds.
Plain and simple Ruben was the better all around Idol. Clay may have gotten better over time, but he just wasn’t Idol Material. Randy said it best, YOU WERE THE BEST DAWG!
OOPS its a little early for me to be posting…
Second line about Clay should read - Did Clay have Soul?
I’m from Raleigh, but I’m not a Clay Aiken fan. I admit he’s talented, but he sounds like the worst parody of a Las Vegas lounge act. The local TV stations have been playing clips of Clay during programming, and there was one where he sang the Star Spangled Banner during a Durham Bulls baseball game. He employed all the melodrama he could muster and had plenty of those oh-so-sensitive voice chokes like country singers use. I just cringe when I hear him sing.
Congrats Clay, I hope you sell lots of records, but I ain’t buying any.
Well, I’m grieving today…maybe I’ll buy Clay’s album.
Dammit, I hope I don’t watch AI next time! I nearly avoided it this season, but weakened…now I pay the price!
Dung Beetle: I made the mistake of watching the last two or three episodes of the season, and suddenly there was this little part of my brain that adored Clay.
I actually can’t believe just how disappointed I am today that he didn’t win. I only watched a few episodes!
However, listening to Clay talk was sort of painful for me.
Clay was more talented, but I wanted Ruben to win, Clay seemed too cocky.
