American Movie Classics, MY ASS!!!!!

TCM and AMC are two distinct channels, and very different too. TCM still seems to be maintaining a generally high quality level.

I agree with the OP about AMC though. Predator? Puh-leeze. And all those friggin’ Backstories. Whenever I see one of those looming I change the channel. I mean, the reason I tune in to AMC (rarely) is my (dwindling) hope that there will be a worthwhile movie being shown, and not a bunch of interviews, outtakes, little anecdotes, and technical film stuff.

“They don’t even show the Three Stooges on a consistent schedule any more!”

—That’s because they’re all three too busy in the scheduling and programming departments.

You know, Eve, I didn’t even think of that. But that couldn’t be the case. I think Jerome, Lawrence and Moses had better taste than the current crop of AMC programmers.

Must be the Little Rascals running things.

But damn, I’ll miss those Fairbanks and Carlisle short subjects.

I think the Backstories are valuable and interesting, but only for movies like Bonnie and Clyde, not My Cousin Vinny.

–AG (who doesn’t get TCM) :frowning:

Right now as I type this, they’re showing the classic It Happened One Night (1933). Right, while the whole country is either arriving at work, on the way to work, or getting ready to leave for work.

Tonight during the prime viewing hours it’ll probably be Predator or similar tripe.

Adrian Zmed is coming to town. He’ll be starring with…oh, I’ve forgotten who, but basically his female equivalent…in a production of “Same Time, Next Year.”

Great play, but, geez - Adrian Zmed?

Just wait. . . .

Here is why (user reviews- must be a AMC executive):

A more critical review, probably from some rat bastard at Turner Classic Movies with their hoity toity “standards” : http://www.reel.com/movie.asp?MID=1221&buy=closed&PID=10046450&Tab=reviews&CID=18#tabs

That user review sounds completely fabricated.

You can’t make up stuff this good.

Here it is in all its glory:

More comedy gold straight from the source:

They just showed “Follow the Fleet” without commercials.

Perhaps there is hope. I doubt it, but I can always dream - at least until I can finally get TCM…
