I didn’t see another thread on this. What was the point of holding a Vegas round at all? 2 nights of shows, and only 3 acts performed! Worse, they eliminated 25 acts as soon as they arrived in Vegas, including such apparent contenders as magician Jay Mazzoli, who I thought was at least top 10 material, and 9-year-old guitarist Tallan Noble Latz, who was one of the most talked-about auditioners. A total WTF sequence.
A pianist over a harpist? Whisky Tango Foxtrot, indeed. I can’t believe I’m watching this. And the Hoff is a pig – did you see him drooling at the blonde triplet fiddlers?
As much as it did seem unfair to those participants, I am sure the contract stipulated that they were chosen based upon talent so far - in other words, the first dance act was pretty damned good when they saw it back in June, but by the time they had seen 50 other dance acts at the end of July, that first act was no longer one of the best. How could the judges have known that they were going to see 49 acts better than the one they were currently watching?
My hope is that they at least allowed those acts to spend a nice weekend in Vegas.
I have no doubt that we will all agree to disagree on certain acts and that rounding out the final 40 will have countless opinions (phew, glad to get that bullshit out of the way early). I missed part of the first hour, but did not see the ‘Fun Bots’ or whatever they were. Not sure that they could keep something new going each week, but I really dug them. I assume they did not make it.
Letting the harpist go was a huge mistake, especially when they let some more questionable acts in (the really skinny dancing waitress or the honestly mediocre blonde violinists?). Likewise the little 8 year old girl was cute, and I guess they needed one little cutie since last season’s was such a hit, but she really lacks the talent to be worth staying.
Pleasantly surprised to see both dog acts doing, particularly the speed frisbee guy. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit teary eyed when he first aired.
The biggest mistake of the season was that they let way too many acts go to Vegas which made narrowing them down that much tougher of a job. There was a time when Piers always said no, Sharon always said yes, and Hoff actually sometimes said no, not this time it seems.
120 acts
3 minutes to perform and 2 minutes to transition to the next act (no commentary needed by the judges)
10 hours and everyone gets a 2nd chance to showcase their stuff.
What song was playing during the AGT:Vegas while the two classical artists were being decided on?
Does anyone know what the, uh, structure of the rest of the show is to be?
Four weeks of ten acts. According to one source, five of each ten move on.
So then they have 20 acts for another round?
Because I thought I remembered that before only the top 2 from each ten moved on, and those 8 plus 2 ‘judges choice’ made up a final ten act show. Am I hallucination?
