okay, so it’s the dumbest show on the planet. Tyra Banks is a giant ball of cheese. It’s totally ridiculous in every way.

No you are not alone. I’ve been hooked since season 1.
Jade especially fascinates me. She turns out great photos, but you couldn’t pay me to sit in the same room with her for an hour!
Tyra is someone I had barely heard of before ANTM, but if she ever put out a biography I would read it. Who knew that a giant ball of cheese could tour the world, meet interesting people, and make lots of money doing it while looking fierce?
I’ve enjoyed watching for 2 seasons now. Interesting to watch how the girls change in their confidence and how that translates in their photos. I really liked Nnenna’s look, unusual and arresting from the very beginning and was really disappointed she was eliminated. The only one left that consistently has gorgeous photos is Joanie. She’s beautiful but she looks so much like every model you see in ads. Jade drives me bananas. She smirks and scouls and has a real snobby attitude. Also, Jade has screwed up every challenge that required talking. Danielle I like and feel she has really grown. Founda (sp?) does absolulely nothing for me.
It’s nice to know that we’re only a few weeks behind ANTM, compared to the several months/years that we’re behind everything else that’s aired in the world.
I do share the ANTM love. I’m not a ‘reality TV’ person (at least not the american stylie “gameshow” stylie RTV. I prefer the UK stylie docco-TV), but there’s something trashy and cheesy and wonderful that draws me back to ANTM week after week after week - and even has me watching repeats.
It just saddens me that the Australian version is so shit comparatively. The quality of the girls is up there in terms of looks, but the American version is just produced in a much better way, and Tyra is the most awesome host ever.
Also, Jade can take some fierce pictures, but bitch needs to shut her mouth and lay off the attitude. I really wish someone would smack her up a bit.

Whew … I feel such a relief - admitting it is the first step.
I enjoyed the portion in which the contestants had to demonstrate their uniqueness (word?). The crickets chirping bit always cracks me up (I’m very simple that way).
Jade is horrific - I just don’t like her look - her eyebrows especially bug the hell out of me. Plus she looks so OLD for a new model, compared to the other girls. I can’t see her winning this competition.
I like Sara - she LOOKS the most like a model. Joanie is cute and nice but too short.
The judges are such train wrecks - and I will admit that “Miss Jay” freaks me out.
A couple weeks ago one of the flaming gay judges was wearing a hat from my brother-in-law’s clothing line.
And a few months back I saw one of the top models walking down the street.

For me, Jade and her eyebrows remind me of Ray Liotta in some fashion… Especially now that she’s had her hair cut too.
I love this show. I especially love how Tyra gives the same speech at the end of each episode.
Five beautiful girls stand before me. [pause] But only four of you will continue in the running to be America’s Next Top Model. [pause] When I call your name, please step forward. [pause] The first name I’m going to call [pause] etc., etc.
I like Janice Dickinson’s freak outs.
Mrs. RickJay and her friend love it.
What amazes me is how few of the contestants are good-looking.
You mustn’t forget to deliver the lines in a hushed whisper while giving all the girls the sad puppy dog eye look.
Aside from the drama, I think my favorite part is watching the ridiculous photo shoots: “You’re a mermaid–the catch of the day. Now hang there tangled up in a fish net, upside down over 10 feet of dirty water with fish juice running down your neck and do it gracefully!”
And Jade, Jade, Jade…girl has a whole lotta crazy going on under that mini-afro there. She actually thinks she’s from another planet. Heh. I think someone should team her up with New York from Flavor of Love and give them their own reality show. (Oh God, did I just admit to watching Flavor of Love too? Ack! :eek: )

I am obsessed with this show. It’s like all the tall, thin girls that were bitchy to me in high school, now they’re bitchy to each other.
Mr Jay, the tiny orange man. What to say. Maybe one day something useful (as opposed to ‘look fierce!’) will come out of his mouth.
Jade is batshit crazy and looks about used up. Joanie and Danielle I really like, Furonda looks like the skinniest space alien ever, and Nigel is both smoking hot and sleazy at the same time. I liked Miss Jay better when she was a runway coach, she doesn’t add much at panel.
They outdid themselves with the hotel in Bangkok - it looks spectacular.
By the way, did everyone try putting on some heels and doing that turntable spin thing Tyra did last week? Could not do it!

As a biochemistry major at a university who is interested in foreign languages and reads a ton, I try to maintain an image of the “academic” but got help me do I LOVE this show. I am on my couch every wednesday with my predictions.
Jade has to be stopped. I’m glad I’m not alone with having a problem with the eyebrows.
Joanie is my pick. She is really beautiful and she is tough. I feel like other girls on that show would flip out and cry over a papercut and the whole episode would revolve around that drama. Joanie is tough. After the denitst she was vocal about how much it hurt but she isn’t a BABY about things.
Janice is my hero. I liked the episode where she came in and said “bitch, youre dead to me” to Gina. hahahahaha awesome.
As for other seasons, I think Nik was robbed in season 5. Nicole is a ridiculous bitch. Eva was not hot enough to win and I still dont understand this one. Naima too. Adrianne and Yoanna are the only ones that I really agree with for the winner.
I can’t believe Nneena was eliminated, She was stunning, well spoken, and smart (bio chem major?). The “boy look” model from last season was great too, but I like who won as well.
I was also stunned when Nnenna got eliminated. She and Furonda are my favorites (I can’t quite explain why Furonda is) and I was sure Furonda was going to bite it this week. Nenna’s photos, though, when they showed them all after she was eliminated, weren’t very impressive.
Joanie and Danielle, I think, are not particularly attractive and I didn’t like them at all at first, but they’re both growing on me fast, especially after the recap episode. They’re hilarious! I loved Danielle sucking Jade’s forehead and the three girls’ (I don’t remember which three. Leslie, Joanie, and Danielle?) impression of Janice. “I love you!” “I hate you!” “you’re my favorite!” “you’re a mess!”
Jade, god help me, I’m actually beginning to like. I wouldn’t, as Twiggy said, want to be alone in a room with her, but I love watching her. She cracks me up.
I still think Leslie should have lasted longer. When they actually give her airtime, she’s well-spoken and funny and she’s the the prettiest one from this season.
I LOVE this show. My favorite is Sara, but she really needs to learn to stop being so awkward with her height.
I knew Nnenna was going to go, all of her expressions have been the same, I was surprised she didn’t try harder, the first few shows I thought she was the one to beat.
I loathe Jade. What an annoying person!

This show has been a train wreck from the word go. If there’s one thing to be learned from it, it’s that you will never, ever end up an actual top model from it. Previous winners and runners-up are languishing in obscurity; a couple are getting some acting gigs (Eva and Yaya, for example), but the only ones with any regular work are ones who were pegged as losers in their season, like Anne from, I believe, cycle 3, who’s doing a lot of regular runway work in New York.
Yes, I love this train wreck enough to notice what the losers are doing afterwards. Sigh.
Every week I watch, and point, and laugh, and point and laugh some more. Does it get better?
Joanie and Danielle are tied for my affections. Both are gorgous, take fabulous pictures, and seem like nice, regular people with great senses of humor. Sara’s okay, but I don’t think she has what it takes. Jade is striking, but would be too difficult to put up with. And Furonda just doesn’t do it for me. Her complexion is bad, she’s too scrawny, and her beauty isn’t as eye-catching as the others (including Jade).
My prediction: It will be between Joanie and Danielle.
I haven’t seen much of this season, apparently. But I was stunned that the one with class (Nnenna) was cut this week.
Furonda is a skeleton.
Eva Pigford’s actually done pretty well for herself. I’ve seen her ina fair number of magazines, and as you point out, she’s gotten some acting work and such.
Yeah, the rest are all long gone. That’s not entirely dissimilar from, say, American Idol; Kelly Clarkson has done very well, but most of the rest flamed out quickly. You haven’t heard from Ruben Studdard or Fantasia Barrino lately, and pseudo-winner Clay Aiken was the shit for a year and then fell as fast as he rose. It gives you a SHOT, not a guarantee.
The redoutable Mrs. Cliffy watches it when it doesn’t conflict with Alias, and I watch about half of them with her, more as we get to the end of the season. This year Danielle and Sara are my favorites – Sara’s the prettiest (also we’re both Georgetown alums), and Danielle is the one with the most moxie. Joanie’s all right, and I’m pretty sure I saw her in the Metro last month. It is interesting that I have an understanding now that modelling is something differeent than standing there looking pretty.
