Amsterdope..... who's bringing the 'amsters?

You wouldn’t believe me if I told you what currency has historically been the strongest in the world, Weirddave.

Those numbers look good to me, hibernicus.

Another thing: are their any restrictions to what we can eat? I’m sure Shayna will skip the pork, but that’s a minor problem since most restaurants carry other types of dead animals as well. Any vegetarians out there? Muslims on Ramadan? East-Bengal Orthodox Baptists with a Lacto-allergy?

Bring me out a live cow, Coldy, I’ll carve off what I want and ride the rest home. dum diddi dum diddi dum.

I leave this afternoon, and will have a couple of days to see the city before I meet you all on Friday. Needless to say, I will be an expert by then  I am sooo looking forward to this!

Have a good flight, Sassy!
We’ll see you friday. Did you get my e-mail with my phone numbers? Shall I leave a message at your hotel about a time and place to meet up?

OK, just a little note for those who still have to pack their suitcases: it doesn’t look like it’s going to be a great weekend in terms of weather.

For Friday through Sunday, chances of rain are about 70%, and the temperatures will be in the 6-11 degrees Celcius range (43-52 Fahrenheit). So I’d advise you to pack a decent sweater, and wear at least a mid-season coat. You’re not gonna freeze your ass off, but it’s not gonna be warm and cosy either.

Well, it’s supposed to get cosy enough, of course.

Are we looking forward to it, kids?

Happy landings, Sassy - see you there!

Looks like rotten weather for outdoor transportation, but what do meteorologists (sp?) know about anything anyway ? Screw’m. Apart from that, I’ve totally lost touch with how many Irishmen I’ll have to beat up to get the good couch, but I’ll handle that when I get there.

Hah - that makes it my third Dopefest in as many countries, beat that! (Note to self: Life, get one.)

S. Norman

Looks like you’re fighting one Paddy and one Yank, Spiny. And not to worry! Since there’s just gonna be three guests at Casa Coldy now, that means that one of you will get the spare bed (in the guest room, even), and the other two get a three seater each. No one needs to bring an air mattress, and only one of you needs to bring a sleeping bag (you guys figure out whom, I don’t care). Pillows aplenty.

Guys, give Snormy a break - he has to travel by bike.

Twisty, Dave? Any of you got a sleeping bag to bring along?

Hi Guys! I got an email from Shayna telling me about this dopefest. Although I knew of it, I didn’t realise it was this weekend. Do you think you can fit in one other Dutch guy? Believe it or not, but I’ve never been to the Anne Frank Huis, Van Gogh Museum or on a canal bike ride either in my entire life, and I live about 20 minutes from Amsterdam! Sounds like fun to do this with you guys.

I can offer to bring a car in case there are out of city events planned and two uncomfortable couches if anyone is in dire need of a place to stay. Of course, this means that you won’t be staying in Amsterdam itself and I’m a terrible grouch in the morning (this is no joke, I’m truly horrific), so it might not be the best of ideas

Just wanted to pop my poor little taterhead in here and ensure that I get my drunken phone call. And postcard. And pictures. :frowning:

Raise a toast for me guys, kay? I’m going to make the next one, that’s a promise!

Hey! I’m a natural blonde. . . .

. . . once you get past the first 1/4 inch.
Coldie - Will you please e-mail me your phone number as soon as you can? I will be headed out in the morning and don’t know what my internet access will be once I get to my dad’s in Germany.

Oh yeah, my dad asked about these “friends” of mine I will be meeting next weekend. He said that he has lived in Germany and England long enough to know how many Euro weirdos there are over there.

Don’t worry, I lied and said you guys are okay. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just found out that I’ve got to be on a plane to Milan in 4 hours! Hopefully I’ll be back in time to catch my flight to Amsterdam, but if not, my company is getting me an open ticket so I can fly straight from Milan to Amsterdam. Coldfire, can you email me your phone numbers so I can let you know if my details change?

Afternoon Trash !!

Just popping in to wish everyone a safe journey. Erm…Safe Journey Everyone !

Coldie- As host, I suppose the ball is somewhat in your court from now on. How about this as (just) a suggestion. Because we’re coming from all directions (no sniggering in the cheap seats Diane) and at different times on different days without or without jet lag – i.e. a logistical nightmare - I wondered if it might be an idea to set a regular time and place at which to congregate ?

It’s entirely your call but how about the main bar at the Mecure Hotel at 7.00pm Friday and (for Diane who’s arriving a day later) 7.00pm Saturday ?

Taters Going to miss you so much :frowning:

Taters, if your mobile number is still the same, you’re going to GET that drunken phonecall, or I’m gonna die trying.

Diane and Kferr, check your mail!

Aghris, you live in Aalsmeer, right? Are you going to travel back and forth every day, or do you need a pied-à-terre in the Nations Capital? I have no idea about nightly transportation to Aalsmeer, other than your own car or a NLG 60 taxi…

L_C: I’ll be picking some of the trash up at the airport. Hey, just for my convencience, can everybody quickly post their flight number and local arrival time for me? Thanks!
I suppose the only ones that come in separately are Snormy (whom I suppose will cruise straight to Casa Coldy), Diane, and possibly Arghris. Oh, and Sassy, of course, she’s already airborne now, I think. The Mercure Hotel Bar might be an idea - we’ll see how the rest of the details unfold.

Okay Coldie.

Uncle Fester: Arriving Friday 16th: Leave Heathrow 12.30, Arrive Amsterdam 14.45 on (British Midland) BD 107

Think I’m out of sync with the others arriving so I’m happy to make my own way to…”Excuse me, do you know the way to…”. No worries, I like pottering around.

Is that what you call it over there?

Coldie - Got your e-mail and sent you a reply. I am not sure what my internet access will be once I get to Germany but I will call you Friday or Saturday to find out definite plans.

Are the flower growers open for the season or is it too early in the spring? I want to purchase some bulbs for my garden and have them shipped home.

tator - Dang girl! I wish you were coming! Maybe we can still meet up before I leave Germany on April 12.

Sorry for butting into your thread again but I just had to comment on this post which has just put me in stitches:

Jesus, kferr, if you hate your job so much can I have it?

[sub]BTW, I wouldn’t mind a drunken phone call either[/sub]

Cheesy Poof, HA! I’ve been through two mobile phones in the last month. I’ll mail you on Thursday and let you know when and how to reach me. I owe you a nice long explanatory email anyway, so I’ll just kill two birds with one stone.

And my fellow Murrikans, never miss an opportunity to let that dang Trash know that they owe their very liberty to us, otherwise they get all uppity-like.

And with that, tater ruins any chances of her being invited to future EuroDoperFests.

ruadh, just send me your phone numbers per e-mail, and we’ll call you in the dead of the night. Promise!

Tater, you’re welcome to EVERY DopeFest to come. Even if you ARE a Yankee Imperialist Piece of Scum!

Diane, I’m not much of a flower connaisseur, but there are plenty of flower shops in Amsterdam. I’m sure you’ll find something.

First off, why would Aghris want to stay in the Hague?

Anyway, I’ll be coming in separately too (driving from Leuven on Friday morning), and the Mercure suits me fine as a meeting place.

Could you direct all e-mails to dandy@clubi.ie please as I am not at work this week.

See you all soon!

We have TWO capitals, smartass.

Amsterdam is the capital, and The Hague is the residence of the government. I know, slightly confusing.

I’ll send you my phone numbers so you can let me know when you’ve arrived.
