Last night I saw Amy Sedaris on her book tour for “I Like You; Hospitality Under the Influence”, in Raleigh, NC. Great hometown welcome, and, sad to say, I’m a newbie to her comedy. Wow! She’s amazing; her timing was impeccable, and she did craft sessions and questions from the audience brilliantly.
The book is so rich, details found here. The photography is spot on for 1950’s-60’s old cookbooks, deadpan accurate, with extra flourishes, and her recipes are real, not joke versions. Then, it’s just chock full of all kind of tidbits, from How to Entertain the Elderly, to feminine hygeine, to making Rabbit snacks. It’s very entrancing. I bought three copies as Xmas gifts, but after perusing it, will buy some more, because it’s so danggggg good.
If you have the chance to see her on this book tour, do it! I think the tour dates are linked on the above site.
Tenar, silly, yeah, you, as the host, put em there…
The bit is: If you want to find out if guests are snooping around, or pilfering, yer med cabinet during a bathroom break at a party (and who wouldn’t!), you fill the med cabinet with marbles beforehand, so when the snoopster opens it, the marbles clatter right out loud as to who’s snoopin’…
You really need to get the book, Amy explains such things in wonderful detail.
Take a thin but sturdy sheet of cardboard/posterboard. Hold it up to where you can pour in marbles for each shelf level. Close the medicine cabinet then slide out the paperboard.
