Amy Winehouse is dead

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

To each his/her own, but who is a good musician, according to you?

She was one ugly woman- all the eyeliner and the beehive hairdo didn’t help things much either

Her parents will, however, be sitting shiva for her afterwards, so in a way the ceremony will continue after the cremation.

Posts like this astound me.

wow, i can’t even imagine how long it took to come up with this obscene statement. or why you would even post it.

Why is it that you can say bad things about people while they’re alive, but not when they’re dead?

Because it’s tasteless, because people are already hurting enough when someone dies without other people thinking they’ve got licence to stick the knife in and because the dead person isn’t around to defend themselves. This applies to all dead people.

How could she defend herself against being called ugly though, even if she was alive. And also, isn’t it more hurtful to her to be insulted than it is (additionally) hurtful to people who are moaning.

I dunno, maybe I’ll have a go at insulting your dead mother and see how we get on

It’s always so awesome when someone’s posts demonstrates how accurate their username is. Go you

And yet, even dead, she’s prettier on the inside than you are.

Though there haven’t been too many egregious examples in this particular thread, I’m always amused when someone shows up specifically to say “Never heard of her, who cares?” or “Did she ever even write a song? Who cares?” Y’all just keep on truckin’ folks, I’m sure your philosophy of “If I don’t know it it’s not worth knowing” will get you far in life.

Oh, boo fucking hoo.

Plenty of people die every day, and you couldn’t give a shit about them. You come out and be sanctimonious about a musician whose lifestyle caught up with her.

I never heard of any of the folks who died in Norway, but I do care.

I don’t care particularly about a failing stage performer who was an architect in her own demise.

Don’t be so superficial.

Recalcitrant drug users are not pretty on the inside, literally and figuratively. It’s not only their life that they destroy, but also the lives of people who care about them. Committing slow suicide in front of loved ones while refusing their help can never be considered pretty.

And then there are those that flyby to demonstrate how superior they are in a thread about someone they apparently don’t give a shit about.

I had no idea that sympathy and sadness about dead people was rationed so strictly. Apparently if we show sadness at the demise of a talented person, then we don’t give a shit about anyone else.

Enough. Negative comments are allowed in threads like these, but insulting comments about other posters are not. Take any further insults and personal comments to The BBQ Pit.

Superior? Nah- I don’t suggest I am superior to anyone. I don’t give a shit about Winehouse, or you to be honest.

Fly by? Read above lover boy and you will find I have posted.

I have sadness about some deaths. Yours won’t be one of them. However, I will go and soak my pillow with tears about someone who died I may have missed. As long as you promise me you will get your hand off your stork.

But if you didn’t, would you feel compelled to say so?

Not asking you to care. Not asking you specifically for anything, dear. Just wondering why someone would take time out of their day to dismiss the entire life of someone they “don’t care” about. A bit tacky, IMO.

I’m giving you a formal warning for the personal insults in this post, and I’m reminding everybody else to pay attention to moderator instructions.

Nah. Your friends are probably fine (though a bit corny). It’s just the monkey sphere thing. We tend to have a portion of our active sympathy carved out for people we ‘know’. And though we don’t ‘know’ Amy Winehouse the woman, we know Amy Winehouse the persona; the artist who we ‘connected’ with when she sang the songs that broke our hearts and raked us raw and felt like what we felt when someone hurt* us.*

Now, I don’t cry over dead celebrities. But I do give a pass to the tenderhearted fans who do.
