Years ago, Mr. Rilch and I worked on a cable movie that was supposed to star Frank Langella. He decided, on the first day of filming, that he didn’t want to do the show. I don’t know all the particulars of his subsequent dealings with the producers, but the role ended up being played by Patrick Stewart. I was probably not the only person to say, “Langella was hoisted with his own Picard.”
