An Appreciation of William Shatner's Total Career

Building on what Marley said, I’ve become a big fan of Shatner since he relaxed. Back when he was young and pretending that Star Trek was beneath him and he was An Actor and therefore Serious and Introspective (and Important!), I thought he was a blowhard and a pain in the ass.

BUT . . . since he’s decided it’s okay to be comedic and breezy and have fun, I think he’s great. The Big Giant Head was cool, Denny Crane is hilarious (“We’re carnivores! First think the Pilgrims did when they landed was eat a few Indians.”) I even love his Priceline commercials (“Did you zap my Daddy?” “No no! Yes. Yes, I did zap your Daddy.”) He just seems like he’s having fun with things these days, and that makes him fun to watch.
