An April Foolish MMP

Believe it or not, I’m still awake, tho not for long, I hope. After we picked up Future-son-in-law’s furniture and brought it over here, I got both of them busy sorting their boxes and bags of crap. Much was thrown away, and the rest was consolidated into smaller boxes. Daughter and I loaded the van, and I do mean loaded. There’ll be just enough room for me, my tote bag, and my pillows.

The boy’s furniture is on the trailer, and tomorrow, we’ll load the girl’s dresser, mirror, and the rest of the boxes, plus whatever else will fit. Unfortunately, we’ll have to drag the trailer down again next month - she’s just got too much crap left for a mere van load, especially since we’ll have 2 critters to transport also.

After she and I finished our packing and trashing, we cleaned up and went to Olive Garden for supper. Then we ran to WalMart because she wanted to get Sweeny Todd, and we watched it while peeling tags off the bottoms of the champagne flute bases. We also ate chocolate cake. She’s watching TV in her room and I’m checking my mail and threads before crashing.

I’m beat. I’m too old for this crap.

Hugs to all who need them and/or want them. Good thoughts to GrammaTigs! Puggy, no, I won’t adopt you. I’ve run out of room in the house.

And on that note, my pillow is looking mighty inviting.

My little sister had her babies today. 2 girls, identical twins, total birth weight is 8lb, 5oz. Everything looks fine and they should be out of the hospital in 2 weeks or so. Because of my trip to Michigan, I probably won’t be able to get to the hospital (Illinois Masonic) before this weekend. My mom was barely intellegible, she was so excited. She sure loves babies.

And Michigan biz trip got way worse. I have to drive the big, dock height diesel truck and pick up some rental scales on Friday. This will probably have me entering Chicagoland’s radius of traffic snarledness, from the south east, of course, at about 3pm on Friday…Yes!

I need a new job…Think I could pass as an industrial engineer with an emph on workflow? I got my eye on a position and just might be able to pull it off.

Congrats on your nieces!!

I wish someone in my family would have kids. I love babies.

Mad & mean people.

Now make with the lunch money.

(Yes, of course I’m joking. Last time I did this I had to clarify.)

hi

that is all

And for Og’s sakes, stay away from Mt. Penis!

I’m sorry, I regularly worship at the altar of Mt. Penis.

Morning all! Yay for freshly sprouted babies! They smell so sweet and their little fingers wrap around yours like there is nothing else in the world they want to do. Of course, then they start wailing and pooping some kind of Exxon Valdez oil spill, but otherwise … Yay for babies!!! I still can’t believe mine turns one on Sunday!

How is Mt Penis this morning? Dormant, or threatening to erupt? :snerk:

{{{hugs}}} for all the sickies and people who feel down!

FCM, good luck with the trip home! [del]Two[/del]Three things I hate are packing and moving and unpacking!

Congrats on the babies, jngl! You do realize that even though you may not be able to see them in person for a few days, you’re still required to post photos the moment you have them, right? So we can have a real estrogen-fest. Especially with two of them! Awwww!

No news is good news, I guess, on the Grandma Tigs front. We’ll see what’s going on tomorrow.

And if anybody needs to go out there, snowbunny, I can probably manage – thanks to the new trusty laptop, I can take my work with me and not lose a fortune while I’m out there (since if I don’t work, I don’t get any $$). I love having such a portable job at times like this, it makes it much easier to plan! But hopefully things will settle down and it won’t be necessary for any of us to go ride herd on them. I think Catherine (aka Friend) can do a good enough job! She’s the only one of the bunch with a shred of common sense, I swear!

Why am I still up since I’m not even trying to get any work done? Oh, right, because I just ended up all out of whack from everything and am finding it easier to just sit here and play mindless games rather than deal with Real Life for a few hours. :frowning:

Ya’ll are very chatty - and I have not caught up. I am two days from the end of a 9-day-with-no-day-off stretch and am doing laundry so I won’t be going to work nekkid.

Hugs and boos and kisses as appropriate. Gotta fold clothes…

Yay, twinbabies! Identicals, no less–how shared were they, placenta, amniotic sac, neither? I’m hoping my nephew’s Thing 1 and Thing 2 are identicals because that’s just cute. Pics soonest, kthxbai!

No Tag, Mt.-ing Penis is what got you into this fix in the first place! Did no one warn you?

beebs, be honest–you really don’t have to tell girls to stay away from that thing, right?

I made it 4.5 hours past Aleve time with my owwie tooth so maybe it’s getting better, hope, hope, hope!

crosses fingers that face stops hurting

ETA: Hey, first on six, booya!!

Yeah, right. :stuck_out_tongue: Especially since you don’t even believe in the first one!

Obligatory joke – how do we know Jesus was a lousy lover? 2000 years, and he hasn’t come a second time, yet.

**Rigs **-- AMEN!!

Hi, Snakes!! Missed ya! Hang in there – two more days.
Hi, Shadow!! sounds like you need some hugs, too :frowning: {{Shadow}}

Congrats jnglmassiv! As a parental unit of twins, tell sis it’s going to be completely, utterly crazy for a few years, but they’ll keep each other company really well, later on

I’ll bring some potatoes and onions to roast on your pyre, Haze. What’s the temperature of the fire? around 450F, right?

Me, I got nuttin’. I’m such a boring nerd when the work starts piling up…

Hey folks. No Anthony Bourdain dreams last night (see muuuuuch earlier post- page 1???). Sigh, I could have used it, too.
Verrrry unhappy mood due to very negative interaction with someone. Said person felt the need to core dump a soul full of bitterness on me for no good reason.

blech.

Welcome back Shadow!

Snakes do you know any of those folks that were shot at Doctor’s Hospital last week? I thought about ya when I read the story in the paper.

Up and caffienatin’ here. Purtification for work to commence soon.

Later Y’all!

This could be considered heresy on the Dope, but I’ve just now decided that I don’t like Peppered Bacon. Blech. Yes, I’m already at work and have produced a full breakfast for 20 people and it’s happily on its way. Whew! Now I can breathe for a few minutes before I start again.

Hi Noonie!

Up and caffeination is in progress … still.

Yay, good to see ya, SCL; hang on for two more days!! We have missed ya.

Congrats on the identical twins nieces! I forget whose they are though!! :stuck_out_tongue: I tell ya, caffeination is -in progress-!!!

Today is my Thursday, so that tomorrow is my Firday. I’m running a bit late today, though, so will have to stay later to make up for it. Ah well.

Hugs and good thoughts to all who are in need.

It’s kind of a clearing house for all things too mundane for their own thread. It’s a place to tell your weird dreams, to vent about your bosses and coworkers, to share good news and bad. And by hanging out here in the MMP, you’re automatically a Cool Kid[sup]TM[/sup]. There’s a new one every Monday. Sometimes they’re only 6 or 7 pages long, sometimes they get to 16 pages or more. But always fun.

Which I’m sure makes Mr Bel very happy indeed.
and beebs - stop scaring away the new folk, will ya? wait until they’ve been around a week or two before you reveal your misanthropic side.

Wow…chatty night crew. Hope you’re doing better, Shadow. Hugs.

And hugs to everyone else who needs them, too.

Hi ragerdude! And congratulations for being one of the rare people brave enough to come in here to ask what MMP stands for. And yes, we realize it’s no longer Monday. It just starts on Monday (usually - swampy’s a rebel) and keeps going until the next Monday.

Off to work…

GT

Aaaaaaand I’m awake. I’m pretty sure I was up at midnight last night. I know for certain that someone was pounding on the front door at 11:30 - turns out one of the doors on the van wasn’t seated properly and my dome light was on. Much as the door-pounding scared me, I’m glad she did - a dead battery is not a good thing when you don’t have cables.

**SCL ** - I think I’ll follow your example and do some laundry today while the kid and I are packing the van. I miscounted and only brought enough pants for 6 days, while my adventure spans 7-ish. So I’ve got 4 days and 3 pairs of jeans and/or shorts left. Not one of my smarter feats. That and I brought slippers but no robe. Where is my brain??

We’ll have to go get some duct tape today, and maybe a tarp. I brought a roll of plastic to protect the trailer contents, but nothing to seal the pieces together. And since it wasn’t as wide as I’d thought/hoped, I should probably cover the whole thing with a tarp - I know it’s supposed to rain on me at least part of the way home.

I’m about to get me some caffeine. And once the kid gets up, we get to work. If we can get the trailer done this morning, we can clean up and go shopping this afternoon. And maybe I can find a proper outfit for The Big Event. Apparently her future mother in law is all concerned about my wardrobe. I’m not sure I understand why - considering how different she and I are, I’d say there’s virtually no chance of us showing up in matching outfits. And even if we do, who cares?? I suppose she would, actually. I’d just laugh.

So, Happy Wednesday, all! Hugs, gropes, cheek-tweaks, and random smooches all around.
