I’m being such a good girl today; I’m more than half done making a lovely spreadsheet with all my yarn on it. Now I’ll have every detail at my fingertrips so when I want to do a project, I’ll know if I have enough of the right type/color/fiber yarn for it. If I ever look at it after I finish it, of course.
It’s so grey and gloomy here today, it makes me want to go take a nap. I think I’ll go watch a DVD instead; presumably that will help me stay awake. Although I couldn’t swear to it right now. I don’t want to take a nap because I’d like to get to bed at a reasonable hour last night. Yesterday I was so tired that I couldn’t go to sleep even when I did go to bed early, so I’m hoping I’ll do better today. But that means no nap and light on the caffeine.
You don’t have siblings close in age* to you, do you? One sib reaches out a hand almost touching the other sib, thus annoying said other sib who yells “quit it!” several times alternating with the first sib saying “but I’m not touching you” thus annoying whatever adults happen to be within earshot. the game is often played in the backseat of a family car on a long road trip.
Last night, I looked at Smokey curled up on the side of my desk, and started hovering my hands near but not on her. She was amused but briefly, then swatted me and turned and curled up with her back to me.
Hey! I’m posting at work! it’s a banner day all around
Ribs are covered in honey-mustard BBQ sauce and in the oven. It should start smelling good in here soon. These are those big, thick, more meat than bones ribs - in fact, of the 4 pieces in the pack I bought, only 2 had bones. So there should be lots of leftover pork to be pulled apart and served on sammiches.
I also bought some ground beef and stuff to make sloppy joe’s and chili. This’ll be a cookin’ weekend, when I’m not painting doors. **FCD ** wanted to remind me to nuke up a pack of bacon - I put a couple of cooked slices in a baggie and he munches on them on his way to work. Anyway, on the little white board on the fridge, he drew a pic of a couple of piggies - makin’ bacon.
**MamaTigs ** - it’s cool and overcast here, too, and I’m loving it! I should be able to leave the house open tomorrow, but Sunday they’re talking 90s and humid. Oh well, it’s great while it lasts.
If I wasn’t so full from some yummy soup, I’d say it sounds like a great idea for dinner. But I’ll probably skip dinner because I am going to PT right after work and bed right after that.
I’m way behind, but StG, I’ve got the sort of unbelievably incredible rare orthopedic condition that means for almost every appointment I’ve ever had concerning it I have a whole crowd of residents/doctors from down the hall (“Hey, you gotta see this!”) hanging around. They’re damn lucky I don’t mind since I am Highly Educational and I don’t mind contributing to their education. They really might only see one of me in their whole careers. Doctors are fascinated by me if they’ve heard of what I have.
FCM, check your email!
I’m annoyed at my job. I knew it was going to be part-time but 8 hours a week just isn’t going to work. I guess it’s time to start looking again. Le sigh.
I went out today to get new glasses. I had no idea that my eyes had changed, they hadn’t for years! I can see so much better now, it’s unreal!
Here I am, sitting in the library pretending to write my paper. I thought about following rig’s advice and sending him my photo with a plea for an A based on my cuteness but rumor has it that he is not attracted to the fairer sex, so I suppose I’ll have to dazzle him with my wit instead. Such a nice day outside, though. I’ll finish this bastard today, buy a trashy novel, and spend tomorrow reading it while sunning myself on the local beach.
I finished an entire repeat on my scarf at lunch. I think that works out to about 2 inches. Since the scarf is supposed to be 66 inches, I should be finished by the end of July. I decided it was easier to take my lunch in the empty cube next to me than go downstairs and listen to people yak while I’m trying to count.
So lunch was nice, but I come back to exhibit A for why I left the Big 4. An enormous, bloated bureaucracy, unable to think or fend for itself. Sigh. It’s actually comical, when I step back and think about it, just frustrating in the moment.
Someone Special, to paraphrase Dr. Freud, sometimes a cookie is just a cookie. Except when it’s a Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookie. Then it transcends cookie status and becomes something more sublime, and gets to go up to the big plate of cookies in the sky.
I’d say you did, Specially TMI. Not that it’s hard to be all TMI-ish with Haze around; she does ask for it, doesn’t she? That being said, mmmm, cookies!
I don’t mind it being so nice and cool FCM; I just wish it were a bit sunnier at the same time.
I just pissed off the reporting firm – they uploaded a file for me to work on, but when I looked at the name list accompanying it, I had to call them back and tell them it appeared to involve people in Papa Tigs’ direct supervisory chain of command. Oops. Needless to say, I try very hard to avoid working on anything where I might have a conflict of interest. Him feeding off the gummint trough definitely complicates things a bit.
I’m a good girl, got all my yarn stash indexed, by manufacturer, weight, # of skeins, amount, yardage, color, dye lot, and location where purchased; and then as I complete projects I can add them to the index so I can remember what I did with what. I’m glad I did this, too; I actually came across a few skeins that I’d already managed to completely forget I had. The ol’ memory just ain’t what it used to be, obviously. Plus I finished a really pretty scarf; now all I need to do is fringe the ends. I’ve even got the fringe cut, but I figure I can actually knot it on while watching TV tonight. That shawl pattern is complex enough that I need to focus on just it, not try to work on it while I’m watching TV, at least till I get more comfortable with it. Right now just doing it accurately is a major victory.
Now back to knitting. Or something. Maybe making and then drinking a cup of coffee; that sounds nice about now, too.
Oh like any of y’all thought for one second I’d pass that up!
The N.O.T. wedges are bakin’ away and smellin’ good! In a few minutes I’ll put the steaks on the grill. If I have it figured right, both should be done at about the same time which would be jake cause while the steaks “rest” I’ll make some cheesey bread. MMMMM… cheesey bread! I’m also gonna make that peach cobbler tonight cause I feel like spoilin’ ol’ y’all know who a little bit. It’s like he’s five years old when he has warm peach cobbler with ice cream on it!
BioRosie I saw it but Puggy said it ain’t official til I say so and I didn’t want to disappoint her, bless her heart.
ribs were yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! **FCD ** is doing the dishes now, and in a little while, we’ll have some ice cream. His is 'nanner split and mine is chocolate peanut butter. yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
My tummy is happy, and it’ll be even happier in a little bit.
