An open letter to President Trump

Although it is an open letter, it’s too long to post here. So I’ll post a link. It begins:

Sadly, the letter is more than 280 characters, which means that the addressee will never read it. (Not that he would understand what was written, nor care what was written, if he did read it.)

I can edit it down as follows:

“President Moron: You’re not fit to shovel shit from one place to another. Resign now, you callous incompetent buffoon.”

Well under 280 characters.

Cut. Paste. Light it on fire and hit SEND.

If that letter doesn’t make Trump resign, nothing will!!

This TV spot has been playing non-stop in CA. Not sure if it’s getting air time in the rest of the country. Hard to fault the guy for sincerity, but I guess if you have money to burn…

Yep. Playing frequently in Virginia.

It’s well written and I don’t have much to disagree with.

Playing regularly in OR. I think it’s nationwide.

You’re too kind. I slaved over it for like 15-20 seconds.

Actually, yes they do.

Unless, according to some, but not according to the U.S. Constitution, your parents are in the country illegally or are here legally, but they are residents of another country.

They can. In his case they do, but in other cases they don’t. Two of my grandparents were born in Europe, but they died US citizens.

:shrugs: The letter claimed being born a citizen doesn’t make you an American. Yes, there are other ways of doing it, but being born a citizen makes you an American. Not serving in the military (in every war except Iraq), not helping old people vote, not revealing your tax returns.

You only need a one word letter, Dear Mr President, “Repent” sign it, seal it and send it …

On reading more of what he says, I’ll change my stance and agree with you. I see what he is trying to say, which is that being an “American” is about holding certain values, etc. But that’s simply not true. In fact, it is contrary to his larger thesis, and muddles his message.

Can he do that?

It was not a very wide stance to begin with.

Not exceptional.

It mostly makes me think the same thing as I thought during the election: It would be nice if someone would write something actually analyzing Trump’s policy.

Tell people that Trump’s an asshole and they’ll possibly agree with you, but still support the man. Tell them that he’s going to increase the deficit, get our soldiers killed, and cause mass unemployment, and people will start to listen.

Mass unemployment you say?

Shodan

Isn’t “there’s a storm coming” supposed to be a white supremacist dog whistle?

Are you arguing that the current employment rate is due to Trump, or that it will continue to go up? I find both of those unlikely.

I also didn’t say that Trump would cause mass unemployment. I said that it’s the sort of argument that would make people take notice.

I would think that if you say he is going to cause mass unemployment, and people see that there isn’t mass unemployment, they will notice that too.

So it doesn’t seem to me to be the sort of argument you want to use. YMMV.
