An SDMB Vet Returns

Long ago, in ages past, I was a regular poster on the SDMB. We’re talking eons ago in internet time, when the SDMB was in its first year or two. Waaaayyy back, even before the server shutdowns lovingly referred to as the Winter of our Discount Tents. (Getting nostalgic yet?) Those of you who were around then may remember a plucky young Doper named Admiral Borg. Yep. That’s me.

He’s baaaack. Muhahahahahaha.

Welcome back…

Of course, there’ve been a few changes around here. Enjoy your shackles…the initation crew will be with you just as soon as we take care of a bit of a squck infestation.

runs in yelling, shooting arrows at a rampaging, slavering, roaring Squck as it charges through Yaaaaaa—

–oh, hi, there! Spatial Rift 47! Welcome back to the SDMB! smooch

–aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! runs back out again, still shooting arrows wildly

There was a bug in the code preventing anyone who had subscribed in the past 28 days from re-subscribing. That has since been corrected, and now you should be able to sign up for an additional year of subscription for a total of 2 years at the discount price.

That is as soon as we get your two screen names sorted out, that’s not a smart thing to do. (I had assumed you had a regular ol’ name change and did not realize you had more than one name.) Please send me an email at TubaDiva@aol.com and let’s sort this out properly.

Yay, my thread is back! Yes, all the difficulties have been ironed out, and I even get to retain my impressive start date, as well as my not-so-impressive post count. But, that will change soon.

It’s good to be back.

Welcome back. I remember you as Admiral Borg. There are some changes you’re not going to appreciate. Chief among those changes is that Seven of Nine is no longer a member of your hive-mind.

You shouldn’t have stayed away so long. Snooze ya’ lose and all that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome back, Admiral Borg, now Spatial Rift 47!

The welcoming committee will be along shortly with their paraphernalia, er, I man, party favours.

Seven’s gone? WOOHOO! I mean, I know she looked great in that catsuit, but all she did was whine and complain about her implants (not those implants, you perverts) causing severe skin irritation. Even when we gave her an analgesic cream she wouldn’t shut up.

Welcome back. You caught my eye because 47 is the best number ever.

Wow, what a welcome back. Gets jumped on by 2 mods like white on rice.

What can I say, the mods love me. And yes, 47 IS the best number ever.

Party favours? Now that’s an interesting way to describe them…

Psssst–where’s Mariah? Has she come out of hiding yet?

So what’s the significance of the number 47 to you? Seeing as how you used to be a borg, I can understand your interest in prime numbers, but I was wondering if there was something else to it.

The number 47 is everywhere in Star Trek. It all started in 1964 when this math professor Donald Bentley at Pomona College supposedly proved that all numbers are equal to 47. This subsequently became a running joke on the Pomona campus. In 1979 this other guy named Joe Menosky graduated from Pomona, and later went on to write episodes for Star Trek The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. He started putting in the number 47 at odd places, e.g. “Captain, the shields are down to 47%!” or “Reroute circuit 47-gamma.” Didn’t take long for other writers to pick up on the gag, and now you can’t swing a dead android without hitting the number 47.

All of this info came from here: http://www.pomona.edu/Welcome/Trek/47trek.shtml and here: http://www.pomona.edu/Welcome/Trek/Trek.shtml
this post is brought to you by the letter Q and the number … well, I think you know

What on Earth did y’all name? The goat already has a name. There are far too many individual calimari beasts to give only one a name. The wading pool isn’t sentient and as such can’t hide or come out of hiding. I mean … unless y’all got another goat…

[sub]At least trim the horns down?[/sub]

No, no, Mariah is our squid… quick smooch

For some reason I love knowing strange stuff like this.

Welcome back

It’s an omen!

I say you shoulda kept a boot in each trough and had yourself renamed as:

Spadmiral Borft

Welcome back !!!
