Anchorman is easily the stupidest movie ever

I decided to rent this turd from iTunes and regret it.

Who finds this funny? It is basically one bad joke after another.

And now they’re making a second?

What a completely non funny abortion of a film.

This post has been up for half an hour with no responses! Good work Dopers!

Hi Sparky! I think it’s very very funny.

MiM

Not sure what to say. Sounds like you didn’t like it - okay. It sure didn’t hide what it was…

I thought it was stoopid, but in an entertaining way. So it goes.

Stay classy, Cafe Society!

ETA: and of course, after that wait, a simul-post, MiM!

As long as he doesn’t speak poorly of jazz flute, it’s ok.

Great Odin’s Raven! How could you say such a thing?

I think it’s gloriously stupid.

By the beard of Zeus, it’s one of those movies I could watch any time, any where.

Anchorman: 60% of the time it’s stupid all of the time. (But I still love it)

And I love… I love… I love LAMP!

I also found it painfully unfunny, but I realize I am in the minority here.

I got to the halfway point and stopped.

It seriously was not funny at all.

The fact that they’re making a part 2 blows my mind.

Oh, and I did like The 40 Year Old Virgin (which came out a year later).

Don’t act like you’re not impressed.

Someone’s never seen Freddy Got Fingered.

When that movie was in theaters, someone posted on another board that she and some friends went to see it (they were teenagers) and there was a sign at the box office that said “We are not giving refunds for ‘Freddy Got Fingered’.”

They ended up seeing something else.

It’s the kind of movie that gets old if you watch it all together, but is very funny in small bits. Actually, I find most Will Ferrell movies are that way.

Milk was a bad choice…

I’m apparently the only person in the world who liked that film (along with A.O. Scott of the New York Times, as I like to point out.) I suppose it helped that I was living abroad and had never heard of Tom Green and had absolutely no clue what to expect when I rented it at the English language video store.

Anyhow, Anchorman was funny as all get-out.

ETA: I’m shocked to see at Rotten Tomatoes that Freddy Got Fingered actually has a 54% approval rating from the audience, out of 120K+ votes. And a 6.3 (out of 10) user score at Metacritic. I guess I’m not the only one, after all.

I like Will Ferrell comedies. Not just Anchorman. I liked Talladega Nights and Semi-Pro and Blades of Glory and The Other Guys. Ferrell makes stupid comedies but they’re entertainingly stupid. And everyone making and watching the movies are aware of the stupidity. It’s not like camp movies where the audience is mocking the people who made the movie or ironic movies where the filmmakers are mocking the people who watch movies.

I like Will Ferrell as a comedian. I want to like his movies. I really liked “Stranger Than Fiction.” And I thought “Bewitched” was all right. But “Anchorman” blew chunks. I wish I had that 90 minutes of my life back.

I like a lot of Will Ferell movies; Step Brothers, Blades of Glory, Talledega Nights, Elf, etc. and can watch them whenever they come on.
However, I’ve never found Anchorman to be funny. I saw it in the theatre and was bored silly. I’ve even tried watching it again when it’s on cable but always end up turning it off.
I even like Ferell in co-starring roles like Zoolander, Wedding Crashers, Zoolander. But the Ron Burgandy character does nothing for me.

Well, then you can go back to your home on whore island.

Holy crap, it’s the Anti-Me! (Are you socially conservative and fiscally liberal? Do you prefer steaks medium well? Did you in fact read Playboy just for the articles?)
