I love Will Ferrell.
I hated this movie. I didn’t even smile. I got about 30 minutes into it and shut it off and sent it back to Netflix.

I think Will Ferrell is a great comedian. But he swings for the fences in his roles, so you tend to have an extreme reaction. You either love him or hate him. Personally, I think he’s a genius. Look back to the SNL when he was on, and what happened after he left. He made every skit he was in interesting to watch, and after a while all he had to do was show up on stage and people would start giggling.

I liked Anchorman. Granted, I haven’t seen every Will Ferrell movie, but Anchorman’s my favorite. It has more quotable lines than any movie in recent history. :smiley:

I absolutely loved Elf, I loved the parody of all the old Rankin-Bass films, I loved Bob Newhart’s part, I loved how I was convinced of the child-like innocence of fully-grown man wearing a pointy hat and tights. The scene where he’s running through the revolving door, runs out to puke in the trash can, then starts right back up at it just reminds me of too many things I’ve done (and seen my friends do) as kids. I thought and still think it’s one of the best Christmas movies made in quite some time.

I liked Anchorman, though not nearly as much. It wasn’t “fun” the way Elf was, but then I didn’t really expect it to be. I liked Dodgeball, but not as much as either of the Ferrell movies. Mostly because I wanted to rip the moustache off Ben Stiller’s character for the entire film.

For what it’s worth, I barely knew who Will Ferrell was before seeing Elf. I have never been a big fan of SNL or really watched it at all. I’m more of a Mad TV kind of person (I can do a spon-on Ms. Swan impression. :wink: )

I thought Anchorman was hilarious. I absolutely hated Elf, and Ferrell’s character in Zoolander annoyed me, too, so I guess I’m kind of split between camps here.

I mean, how could you not laugh at lines like “Ron, you had a massive erection,” and “I stabbed a man through the heart!” Both lines are not delivered by Ferrell, you’ll notice.
