Why lock this thread? The OP is perfectly coherent. It’s a reference to a thread from the Lost Weekend in which Dopers were competing to post the last message before the new server came online. Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean that everyone else is unable to figure it out. What the fuck?
Free-for-all weekend ended this morning. As such, we’re back to the usual state of affairs, where MPSIMS-style silliness such as the linked thread doesn’t belong here.
Incidentally, I’m open to a discussion on whether we should change some of the Pit forum rules in light of this past weekend, but I think Pitting fluiddruid for being consistent with the pre-weekend standards isn’t really fair.
Edit: To be clear, I’d have closed it myself if she hadn’t gotten to it first.
You know, I wasn’t really that worked up about this and posted this thread in good humor, but you’re doing your damndest to blow up this molehill into a fucking volcano.
Who cares if not everyone who might have seen the thread in the Game Room didn’t understand it immediately? Does everyone have to understand every topic of every thread now before the thread is allowed? Seems like an odd requirement on a board that’s supposed to be about fighting ignorance. If it’s really that much of a concern that us poor widdle posters might get all confoosed, then in the time that it took fd to type her snide closing comment she probably could have typed something like “Game threads, even those about games in the Pit, belong in the Game Room.” Would that really have been so tough?
The irony burns.
You’ve, rather predictably, escalated into wall-eyed hissy fit because Giraffe answered your ‘good humored’ complaint.
Such fun. Yet another in a long line of Otto tantrums.
Meh. Retarded little game threads should be closed when they’re posted in the Pit. It was moderated correctly. Start a new one in the Game Room or MPSIMS and quit whining.
