Now might be a proper time to point out that you began your career in 1973, rather than 1873, as you appear to have thought.
The twenty-first century is a far different place from the 19th century to which you rightly belong. Please do not be suprised when you discover that in spite of your best efforts, black people are free, women can vote, and America has a foreign policy, of sorts.
Remember, those who move quickly into retirement often suffer from dreadful soul-searching depression and sudden, agonizing death. Some retirees even feel guilt as they look back upon their body of work and realize, “I could have been more of an asshole.” Fear not, Jesse. You were without a doubt asshole enough.

Can someone give me a few examples of what this guy did? I’m not that familiar with US politics. I gather he’s extremely conservative. What did he do? Racist stuff? Sexist?
