Here’s a picture. The funny thing is, the Miss Canada pageant is not televised or thought of very highly in Canada. I couldn’t have told you who our Miss Canada was if you held a gun to my head. I couldn’t have even said if we still had a Miss Canada. Well, good for her, I guess.

Now wait a minute. I was watching “Canadian Bacon” just yesterday, and they made it quite clear that there was no Miss Canada Pageant anymore. Michael Moore wouldn’t make that up, would he?
Oh my! The news report I read a while ago saying that the Miss XXXX pageants had fallen behind the times seems to have understated the reality. :eek:
Unlike some other movies by Michael Moore, Canadian Bacon is intended to be a work of fiction. For example, you are not required to have French signs on your truck when driving in Ontario.
May I point out that Miss Canada is actually Russian, and immigrated when she was 11 years old?
“Actually” Russian? It’s not clear from the two articles linked upthread, but it seems that Miss Glebova is a naturalized Canadizn citizen. Which makes her “actually” Canadian, Russian-born though she may have been.

Well, as a Canadian male living in a Toronto neighbourhood with a high Russian and East European population, I must state that I’m… not surprised.

She’s a student at my university, enrolled in the same program of study as me (Information Technology Management). I’ve never seen her in person though. One of my professors was talking about her last year though. He said she practically got an A just for walking in the room, she was so gorgeous.

What, no scandalous nude pics from when she was 18 and a struggling student? What sort of two-bit country is she from?
Actually, I remember the Miss Canada pageant was scrapped in the 90s. There was a lot of press about how they tried to update it first (having a fitness component for example) but that there was simply no viewer interest and the contest had become irrelevant. So I have no idea how Miss Canada is even chosen anymore.
I started looking for this and lost the cites due to being overrun by pop-ups. One article said that Donald Trump’s organization picked a Miss Canada since there is no official Canada feeder pageant into the Miss Universe™ pageant. Makes as much sense as anything. The winner has some long torso!
