...And you are?

'Much obliged.

I am Maeglin.

Like lno, my accomplishments are in the distant past. I know he remembers me. At least remembers the fencing scar just above his clavicle that I gave him on a chilly day in 2001. I breathed fire at PorkDope, was in the rescue crew that turned up WisestNovel, and ate smores with pork.

Life’s been good to me so far.

Um, okay.
I’m foxymoron. It took me a week to work up the nerve to post in this thread.
I’d like to post more often, but the thought of rejection (or being ignored) makes me feel anxious. So I usually start a response and then delete it, having convinced myself that no one wants to hear what I have to say.

I guess I have issues.
Heh heh.
Ugh.

Well, I thought I’d be the one with fewest posts for length of time here, but a few of the previous posters beat me hands down.

I’ll sulk for a while. :o

Well, dang! I’m only a first-generation heathen, but I’m a 4th generation Irish-Northern Californian, with my mother’s family going back to 1611 in Jamestown, rather than the Mayflower.

Thanks - I’ll let you know how it comes out.

foxymoron, everyone here puts their lederhosen on one leg at a time, just like you do. It’s the chorus of voices and opinions that makes this place so interesting, yours included.

Hi! I actually survived biology, and even managed a B on the final! Next semester I will be tackling organic chemistry.

I post occasionally, and as Flander said he recruited me. I usually post in MPSIMS and IMHO.

Hi, I’m Kendraen Ideals and I’m a lurker. This is me. Don’t post all that often, since I’m younger than the average poster here and don’t have any expertise. Before I went on a short posting spree when I renewed my subscription, I had something like five posts, and most of the threads I post in tend to die off quickly. I do recognize most of the people on this thread though.

Amp, didn’t you post on that one thread (in the pit maybe?) about the San Fransisco homeless people, explaining what busking was or something? Am very bad with names, so maybe not.

I always make sure to read your posts, Anastasaeon, although I admit to spending my early Doper months under the misapprehension that you were a guy. ('Twas the username.)

Well, it didn’t even occur to me that I could finally translate my name here, as well as introduce myself.

Hi, I’m Anaamika. Used to be Elenia25; changed it some time ago.

Anaamika, in Hindi, means “anonymous”. Or more literally, “nameless”. Pretty god for a message board, eh? Yeah. I didn’t think so. The important thing was that it be something I chose, not something someone came up with. I’m stubborn like that.

I’m definitely not a lurker, with 4500 + posts to my name. I love this place, even though it seems to be getting a little more cranky of late. I mostly hang out in Cafe Society, IMHO, and MPSIMS, with an semi-frequent foray into the Pit and even less frequent into GD.

I used to be worried that people thought I was posting too much, that I was being annoying. Then I thought - I enjoy this place! I’m getting pleasure out of it, so why should I even care? So…now I’m just here to have a good time.

Wait…I thought that was Kythereia’s title…

You know, I figured someone would catch me on that. I just think they’d do it in such a witty way.

My hat’s off to you.

Hi, I’m Jpeg Jones.

I’ve been around a while, not posting much except for threads that relate to classical music.

But I’ve been reading the Straight Dope books since I was wee.

Hey, did you know, somebody named their premier album after you?

I’ve heard of it. Mine was actually taken from the movie.

I can never get over the fact that imdb lists Bollywood movies, too. I love it.

Hmmm… Still alive. And kicking, too.
What’s the secret of this thread’s continuing existence?
Pact with the devil? Fooled around with rubber bands and a liquid lunch?
Nice to have a place for us quiet ones to speak up?
That’s what I think. Hello, everybody.

poke… poke…
no longer breathing…

I did it! I’m the biggest baddest killer of all!

Hi, Ragiel. What’s your name mean?

Wait! Don’t run away! Want a cookie?

Ragiel is credited with writing or compiling the Book of Wings, which included a bunch of directions for magical effects, based on which intaglio you found, carved into which gemstone.

Or an angel occupying seat #7 or thirteen or something in the second tier.

Or maybe the author was channeling the lists from the angel.

I collect stones, jewels, and folklore about them. But mostly I thought the title Book of Wings was incredible. I’ve e-corresponded with the author of a book on the superstitions, but if he even noticed the reference he never mentioned it.

So thanks …hey, wait a minute! I wanted to eat that cookie!

I wish I could conjure magic like that at will. Unfortunately, those were merely happenstance. Two of my favorite threads of all time as well.

I am the guy in search of the ever elusive bean beef and cheese microwave burrito.

I also think that tatoos are skanky, especially on women and that Spain recently became a nation of cowards.
