60 is way too young. Wiki says he dies at home of natural causes.
I loved DM so much as a teen (or better put- I still love that period of their output). Sad news.

I love reading about celebrity deaths, I just can’t get enough.

As just explained to me it is somewhat of a joke but still an inappropriate joke, especially for the first response.
“Just can’t get enough” is the title of a big Depeche Mode hit.
I mostly am familiar with him as the guy whose most valuable contributions to the band were not of the musical variety. He handled managerial tasks, acted as a spokesperson and, when necessary, kept the other cats in the band from clobbering each other, but as far as actual notes played or words written, he really didn’t make much of a mark. Seemed a little odd to me, but if having him around was something they all were cool with, who am I to judge?
I’m not an expert on the band but I think some of that was modesty. He wasn’t the main talent in the band but did contribute bass lines, synth parts and samples. And if a band mate you trust wants to handle the thankless managerial duties, why not let him, rather than bringing in an outsider?
Anyway, RIP.
I’ve seen early footage where he was one of the ones recording environmental sounds for their musique concrète period, so it’s not like he wasn’t involved.
