Angel 03/05/03 - Salvage (spoilers)

I thought she said, “Like riding a biker…”

I think it was meant as a double entendre. I don’t have CC, so I don’t really know, but I bet it says “bike, or…” but is intentionally slurred.

Great episode. 10/10.

Faith’s scenes were as good as promised. Watching her bitch-slap Conner was very satisfying. Actually almost all the scenes were good (except for the escape scene which was a bit off in spots), and a few were classics. Very well done.

I agree- since Buffy has gone to UPN, Angel has been the superior series.

Wes also couldn’t call Buffy as she is just a wee bit busy right now with the First Evil, a house full of SITs, a extremely bad actress as Willow’s love interest, a full-time job, a recently heavily damaged high school, Dawn, Andrew, Spike with a Soul (with handy evil remote control), and her boss is trying to woo and/or kill Spike. Oh and she has to write more speeches.

Thanks to those who were careful with the spoiler boxes until the episode aired. Its a lot more fun not knowing what is coming.

It’s called money, makeup, and trained professionals.

I like her as the bad guy, but playing the pregnancy thing adds too much cheese to the show. The idea brought up earlier about it possibly being the Beast’s baby has merit, though.

Oh yeah, I knew that she was knocked up in real life; I was just kinda, sorta, maybe, possibly disappointed that they were making it a part of the story. Still, as Gorgon Heap just mentioned, Cordy spitting out a bastard beastie ain’t toooooo horrible.

If we’re lucky, maybe Faith will go to Sunnydale and bitch-slap Dawn for us.

Maybe there will be a Dawn+Conner spin-off, “The Whiny Teenager Vampire Slayer Show.”

I’d rather watch a show about evil bunnies.

Yeah, evil bunnies doing it like rabbits. Wait…

Great show! No nitpicks, good fight scenes, I liked the end of the Beast, Angelus is GOOOOD! I also thought it was interesting how they handled the Faith-Conner confrontation, he was so HAPPY at being trashed by Faith, pretty cool.

Favorite lines
“Just like riding a biker.”
“I thought that was just Angel’s retarded fantasy.”

The only problem is that Angel wouldn’t drink human blood, even from a dead human. He found Lilah before Wes and Gunn came onto the scene, so he was not doing it for their benefit.

I think the spell that Evil!Cordy had them all do was not a soul restoration, but some kind of glamour or illusion that would fool Lorne. Kind of like the spell that the desert guy did in “Enemies”, which was light and sound, but nothing more. Since we know that Cordy, or someone that looks an awful lot like her, is a Black Hat, it’s more plausible that she set up a spell that was designed to trick the one person who could tell whether it was really Angel or not. Note how she cut off questioning Lorne about his misreading.

Or he was doing it for the benefit of us, the viewers. If it’s one thing I’ve learned from watchingabout 210 episodes from the Buffyverse, then it is that things never are what they seem, to us, the viewers.

So, I repeat - we haven’t actually seen Angel/us kill a human. And the fact that he was losing his soul, was public knowledge from the beginning of the season. And just because of that, I think it might all be misdirections from ME. I hope not. But I wouldn’t be surprised.

Very excellent episode. I used to not like Faith very much, but man, does she rock! I loved, loved, loved seeing Connor get his ass handed to him (and his consequent crush was pretty funny-- the first time Connor wasn’t grating was when he was gushing to Cordy about Faith).

I’m wondering if it isn’t the pregnancy itself that’s turned Cordy wicked. I’m not saying I believe she came back exactly right from the higher plane, but it could be that she came back essentially herself, but is now carrying a baby of some sort that is pure evil and warping her. Connor is clearly a player in the apocaypse, and “the father will kill the son.” Maybe that isn’t about Angel killing Connor, but Connor killing whatever he sired with Cordy. And since Cordy is part demon now, maybe that side of her has taken over now that she’s knocked up. That would be cool. I’d actually really enjoy seeing a show portray pregnancy as something less that wholly miraculous and magical and lovey-dovey.

Faith: “I hear you’re a good fighter.”
Gunn: “I hold my own.”
Faith: “That’s too bad.”

Ha ha!

Well, Darla’s pregnancy wasn’t exactly ‘magical and lovey-dovey’, was it?

True. Maybe I should have said “another show.”

See, I’m not totally convinced that Angel(us) was lapping at Lilah’s blood pond; in fact, I’m thinking that he was just holding her neck to his face so as to further the illusion that he, as Angelus, killed her.

Of course, the above is based on the assumption that Angel did hear/smell/felt-a-special-tingle-in-a-private-place Gunn and Wes before they rounded the corner… and was faking for their benefit.

I guess the biggest reason that I’m holding out for Angel only acting as Angelus is that I feel the true Angelus character deserves his own apocolypse/storyline. He’s so much fun when he’s bad that I’d hate to see him relegated to a side plot of a bigger bad guy/girl. And, truthfully, that may be exactly what ME is doing here just to throw weenies like me off.

Hmm… I wonder if Connor will kill Cordy’s baby…

I wonder if Cordy’s baby will kill Connor. One can only hope.

I wonder if Faith will ever come over to my place for a weekend full of bling-bling, blung-blung and blang-blang.

One can only hope.

Thing is, he had his apocalypse story in the second season of Buffy. It’s kind of rehashing if he has one again.
