Animal Crossing: It's Tex Avery's EverQuest

I got the entire AC package for Christmas. The game, the Gameboy and E-Reader, some cards, everything I need. I knew from the start this game was involved but – Wow.

I was doing okay. I got my first loan paid off in one day. Then it started going downhill. I spent the evening fishing only to find out Tom Nook would be closed for remodeling. I end up with a house full of fish and my HRA rating goes WAY down.

Then there was the little experiment travelling. When they said to put in another memory card, I assumed it would create a random village, not just duplicate mine. Well, a couple “save-and-quits” later I’d gotten my face back (now that looked darn creepy) and recovered lost items.

After that I accidentally tripped on my extension cord. My that Resetti loves to chat, doesn’t he?

And then just last night, some poor wandering spirit asks me to help him catch five ghosts with my net by 4:00am or something horrible will happen to him. Sucks to be him…I wasn’t able to even get a net until the following morning at Tom’s new shop.

And now my personal invetory is full of fish and shells, my coconut tree will probably wither and die, my HRA rating is going even lower, and I sitll have 99,000+ left on my second mortgage.

God I love this game.

Mods: I apologize if this should be in MPISMS.

Have you built snowmen yet? You can do it starting after Dec. 25.

I built one, but I was only able to find two parts. Then it started complaining about it’s height, my sense of form and how he wanted a new nose. So I hit him with a shovel.

Ah yes, my precious addiction…I wake up in the morning, get breakfast, and turn on the Gamecube to check in on everyone. I’ve gotten to the point where I would be devastated if certain characters moved away.

For the snowman thing, I believe you only need two snowballs (I’ve only been able to find two at a time, anyway). I’ve made two ‘perfect’ snowmen (who are still lacking in the brains department…"Brr! I’m so cold! What possible explanation could there be as to how I’m so cold! …Oh, I’m made of snow. Well, that’ll do.) and one imperfect one that keeps harping on how he can’t move. I hit him with a net a few times, but he still won’t shut up.

The best way to pay a loan back FAST is to dabble in the stalk market. Get up before noon on Sundays and catch Sow Joan for details. Some weeks you won’t earn back your bells, but that’s the risk of turnip trading. If you don’t have a net or fishing rod, you can dig up shining spots for bells or hit rocks to get some quick bells. Digging up fossils and getting them ID’ed by the Faraway museum can net some serious bells if you don’t mind not putting them in the museum with Blathers. Even if you’ve got not a single tool, you can still sell fruit and seashells as well as shake down trees for bells (watch out for bees!). Its pretty much impossible to be poor in this game (yay! if only real life was this interesting…)

Well, I’m doing better right now. I’m down to 78k on my loan. I bought 50 Turnips this morning at 101. I’ll see how things are tomorrow.

I did find out the magic rock trick and that’s going to help out alot. And my first mistake with selling fruit was not realizing it takes three days for the stuff to grow back. I depleted the village and the island in one day.

I got my axe this morning, and I bought a second shovel and buried it in a glowing spot. Hopefully in a week I’ll have the golden shovel and I can go a-diggin’.

I think I’ve somewhat depleted the fish. I’m catching mostly old boots now. I’ve gotten a few snappers and two steeds but that’s it aside from a plethora of bass.

I’m gonna give up on the snowman thing. I keep tossing those things over cliffs, anyway.

And I think I’m getting as bad as you Raven. Biskit is telling me he’s going to move away soon. I don’t suppose writing letters or sending presents helps, huh?

I can’t keep anyone in town. Apparently visiting other towns causes someone from your town to move.

Don’t sell the fruit in your town, visit other towns and sell your fruit there. Get more bells that way (5X as much I think).

Now I just need the GameCube/Gamebiy Advance cable so I can visit the island.

I just wanted to comment that, as someone who has no idea what this is beyond a game for the GC, this is one of the more surreal threads I’ve come across lately…

Animal Crossing Over: It’s Jonathon Edward’s new show about the afterlife of pets.

Animal Farm Crossing: Talking, walking animals give up their jobs and just lounge around trading furniture while they make the humans do all the labor in town. Sheep are known to repeat themselves and the pigs are very annoying.

How do you visit other towns? We tried to get on a train, and it just told us to insert another memory card, or something similarly irrelevant).

And what is the deal with the December Lottery? When’s the drawing? How do you cash in?

The lottery is held on the last day of each month. On that day, just take all your tickets to Nook’s store and try to win the three prizes he has there.

I haven’t been to my town since early November. Oh, the weeds when I go back…and I’ll probably time travel to get the Harvest and Jingle sets of furniture…bad Naz, cheating in this game…

This will put a few questions to bed and help you in a lot of “how do I?” moments

Thank me later

This thread is interesting. I don’t know much about the game, so I have an opinion question for players: in your estimation, would this game appeal to the sort of person who mainly plays simulation games like the Sims, Simcity****, and Tycoon (RCT & ZT) games? If so, I might at least rent it tomorrow to try it out.

Animal’s Crossing: A musician’s training guide where a puppet with little or no speaking skills teaches you how to play drums. Later, you get to jam with Janice, Rolf, and that saxophone guy as you take the place of the puppet.

You have to create another town on another memory card or use one someone else has made. I’ve got my main town (Helltown) in slot 1, secondary (Dagobah) in slot 2, so I can just hop the train on over whenever I like. Go gather up strange fruits, bring em back and plant an exotic garden that’s worth 500 per fruit.

I would definitely put it in the same category as the Sims.

I am getting tired of having everyone move out of town so I want to keep my travelling to a minimum, but I’m having trouble getting the foreign fruit tress to grow. Maybe I need to be more selective when planting them.

My two cousins (ages 8 and 11) got “Animal Crossing” for their new Gamecube this Christmas. They basically consider it an upgrade from “Harvest Moon” on the N64, which was their favorite game. The 8-year-old has two children and an insane amount of money in “Harvest Moon,” and will likely rock “Animal Crossing” as well.

Is it just me, or does it seem like all the resource-management type stuff in these games is a potentially effective and painless means of teaching the kids some useful life skills?

Cervaise-I did enjoy the Harvest Moon series (although I liked the Playstation One ‘Back to Nature’ more than the ‘Save the Homeland’) and Animal Crossing is a good game to go along with that.

Yookeroo-For the foreign fruit tree problem, you have to be careful where you plant. Its best to plant trees away from other trees, cliffs, and houses (this also applies to places where a house COULD be, like the signs and dirt spaces where there are no cliffs). The best way to get a tree to grow is to cut down a full grown tree, dig out the stump, and plant your foreign fruit there. I’ve got all the fruit in town you could name (can’t get coconut trees to grow here though). This is easy, but just wait til you have to keep the town perfect for two whole weeks…

Pollo Boyo-Stopping people from moving away is tough. If your town is in poor shape, they will move off on their own. Even if your town is perfect, they still will leave if you go traveling (at least they move to a town you can visit them in). Best way to stop this is to talk to everyone at least once a day, and do chores for them. At least they pay me to get their picture books back for them. But don’t sweat it if they say their thinking of moving away. Just say “Don’t go!” if you get the opportunity. Rollo the hippo has been saying that for weeks now, and he’s still in Tokyo (my town).

No I’m not addicted. How can I be, when I have to play Metroid Prime as well?! Save the universe and get a sweet furniture series! (hm, metroid furniture? Time to go to bed…) What furniture series are you collecting?
