Has anyone here even seen the Anime show on Cartoon Network called Yu-Yu-Hakashu (if thats the way its spelled). Anyway, I need to know what type of suit that is that he wears. It’s a green outfit with a mandolin or “band” collar that really looks cool. I want one in black, but I can’t seem to find it for the life of me. Does ANYONE here know the correct name for this suit and where I can find one for myself?
I live here in Chicago and believe me I have searched everywhere for that suit and no one here has anything even close to it. Do you think I could order one from a store in Japan and have it shipped here? If so, do you know how I might go about making this happen?
I don’t think there is a name for the style. Its just a standard school uniform. I speak a little japanese, but not enough to browse through an online clothing site looking for what you want.
I admit, it does look comfy. Yusuke, of course, always wears his in different colors from everyone else, probably because his mom (a) doesn’t much care and is too drunk to notice anyway and (b) Yusuke probably once got a kick out of unfuriating his teachers with it.
Mostly, through shops catering to the more hardcore manga/anime fan comunity.
Try for instance www(.)jlist(.)com (address sanitized because homepage gives the choice to go to an adult page). Go to their regular area, then using the left-hand panel click in the shop area at the categories until the menu shows you the uniforms/costumes choice with no further subcategories. There they do list boys’/men’s uniforms, but you have to scroll to the bottom, past a very long listing of girls’ uniforms. (hey, they know their core audience…)
I think the Japanese term for this style uniform is “tsume eri” or “tsume eri gakusei fuku.” “Tsume eri” means closed collar or stand-up collar, and “gakusei fuku” simply means school uniform.
