I’m looking for a coat that has a similar collar as the one Vash from Trigun wears. I’m just using that one as an example because I don’t know how else to describe it. Does that style have a name? Does anybody have a coat like that? It doesn’t necessarily have to be double buttony like that (I’m clearly using the technical style names, thus indicating my vast knowledge of style), but I like the high, sort of rigid circular collar like that. Even just some terms I could search for would be a big help. Thanks!
Are you looking for the exact same red coat, or just something in that style? Searching eBay with the terms “cosplay vash” will find you imitations of the actual coat (along with some real bitchin’ shades).

Not the exact same coat. I just wanted to use it as an example of what kind of coat I’m looking for. Something along those lines, with that kind of high collar, bonus points if it’s like a peacoat or whatever they’re called type thing too. Not wanting to cosplay, just to wear out and about this winter.
How about a greatcoat?

Thanks Johnny L.A. That last coat you linked to was pretty close. Something between that and the great coat and I think I’d find it. What did you search for to get that?
As long as we’re playing “find the outfit”, if anyone can tell me where I can get this suit…or even just tell me what the hell it’s made of (there’s a video here that better shows the unique sheen and flow of the fabric), if I hypothetically wanted to custom-order one…I’d be eternally grateful. I know it probably costs a bazillion dollars and I’ll likely never actually buy one, but I just want to be sure.
The closest I’ve managed to come thus far is this, which, while ostentatious enough in its own right, just isn’t the same.
I used to have a top and skirt set made of this fabric! I found a bag made out of it here. Maybe the craftsperson could give you a tip as to where she sourced it?
I saw one that was very close to Vash’s at Hot Topic, but that was several years ago. Not sure if they still carry them.
It’s labeled as a generic ‘anime duster’, but if you compare it to a pic of Vash, it’s pretty accurate.
I think (but am not sure) that that’s also sometimes called a cowl neck collar
