And this time, it’s about Native Americans. (The bolding is mine.)
I haven’t thought about Ann Coulter in years, which is probably why she felt the need to get herself back in the news.
This is what passes for intelligent discourse on the right.
This is exactly right. There are so many far-right lunatics in these days of Trump that Coulter has been drowned out. She’s trying to become relevant again and is doing it in the only way she knows how.
Do you remember the scene in *Slumdog Millionaire" in which the young Jamal Malik falls into the latrine and is covered with muck and he runs to meet his hero? Coulter, Perjury Traitor Greene, Alex Jones, and the rest of their ilk are the verbal and political equivalent of that, but they don’t see it as a problem or disgrace, and their hero/idol loves that.
She has a history of talking like that. Calling for the bombing of the New York Times, for killing liberals, using nuclear weapons to convert the Middle East to Christianity, etc.
She’s a monster, but people have pretended otherwise because admitting the Right is full of monsters was impolite. And now the monsters are in charge thanks in part to that head-in-the-sand attitude. People decided they’d literally rather die than say mean things about Republicans, and now they’ll get their wish.
Laura Loomer and Candace Owens have left Coulter in the backwater of crazy, so she has to do something to become relevant again.
Huh. Well, I guess I should put her in the Abe Vigoda thread.
Yeah she had been trying the “wait, THIS is NOT what we wanted” angle — not in the sense of “don’t do that” but in the sense of “don’t name imbeciles to do it” and “don’t do it rudely” — to stand apart, but was getting no traction from it.
She has a lament. Is that what the kids are calling it now days?
It’s actually called labubu
I thought a lament is what you use to freshen your breath after eating a Royale with cheese.
I think it was last year I realized I hadn’t heard a peep out of Ann Coulter for years. The only conclusion I could reach is that she was best known for saying shocking things. But what was shocking 20+ years ago is just run-of-the-mill today. So she’s no longer particularly notable.
The pedant in me cannot resist pointing out that current science suggests that around 90% of indigenous people had already died of European diseases before much significant European colonial expansion.
Sounds like the pick-me girl wants to be picked for Director of Bureau of Indian Affairs.
And, since Trump outdid Caligula with appointees that resemble Incitatus‘ hindquarters, we understand her dismay at being passed over.
Nicely said, and likely accurate. The trouble with Coulter from the Trumpian standpoint was that although she was crazy enough to picked for some sort of role in Trump 2.0, she fails the test of absolutely loyalty.
