I don’t know what it is like for other couples, but we tend to be practical and I would like to see
1st year Anniversary we planted pine tree seedling that were about 12 inches high. After 12 years, they are all about 8 ft high or higher and filling in nicely. (This was instead of a trip to Toronto. We bought $300 worth of trees instead and spent a raining May Day planting them all.)
2-8th gifts I can’t really recall. I think for the 8th as a combo anniversary/birthday/Xmas gift we bought a buttload of furniture from Ikea to make our house match a little more. Taking us out of the Early Poverty years to Early Scandinavian Poverty decor theme.
9th- A rototiller. How I love my rototiller ( and it isn’t some cheapie one either.) Also bought a riding lawn mower that was ‘his’ gift. ( I had been lobbying for a rototiller for nearly 8 years and finally won my case by default of asking him to attach the trailer. He knew what I was going to go to Sears or Lowe’s for without asking and I didn’t tell and he just looked at me and said, " I’ll go get it." He came home with the top o’ the line fer me. WoooooT!
10th - Trip to Stratford, Ontario to see the King and I.
11th. Front Loading Washer and Dryer. Awesome awesome awesome…
12th ( this year) An Executive hard case rolling Samsonite suitcase that retailed for about $600 that Mr. Ujest got for free from his boss who didn’t need it anymore. (It was used once.) He came into the house with this dusty thing that had been in the shops crib, told me the story and said, " Happy Anniversary." I love luggage to the point of obsession. He also tossed a gray thing at me which was a sweatshirt from the company’s lost and found and said it was my bonus. YAY!
Christmas presents that have been awesome, and my most favorite has been a double cd compliation of Irish Folk music from Green Linnet records. Received it in 1994 and I listen to it alot.
Received for my 36th birthday Lasik.
