Another Adopted Cat

We adopted another cat yesterday.
His name is Luca (considering his age, and how he actually knows, and answers to, his name, we kept it as is…even though we have a dog named Luke…You call for one, and they both appear!), and he’s nearly two years old.
He’s a Blue Point Siamese, and he’s the sweetest cat.
He was on ‘death row’, and we couldn’t bear to let them put him down.
So, he’s our fifth cat, and things are going well.
We brought him home yesterday, and he’s really trying to play with our other four cats, but they’re not having anything to do with it. The animal that does want to play with him, is our dog, Luke…but it seems Luca doesn’t care much for dogs.
He’s a very sweet boy, loves to play and cuddle, and we love him dearly!
Here’s the obligatory pic of Luca.

Ooooooh What pretty boy. I want! I am sure the other cats will come around eventually.

I adopted two, at different times, and they get along pretty well with the seven that were already there, well most of the time anyway. Key is just a bitch and does not like anybody. She pretty much keeps to herself and just hangs around with me. She has stopped hissing at Moochie and Bob though so I think that is progress.

Have fun with your new kitty. He looks so soft and squooshy.

Oh, damn it.

Oh, well, since I’ve got the earworm:

My name is Luca
I live with nonacetone
Soon these cats will play with me
But why is there a dog in our home
If you hear something late at night
You prob’ly will, I think you might
Just get up and feed us now
Just get up and feed us now
Just get up and feed us now.

Awww, meezer! I have a Siamese mix named Luna, and she’s very sweet. Sweet in a talkative, pesky people cat way, but sweet. She follows me around the house like a little puppy dog.

What a gorgeous boy! Good on you for saving him from death row – he looks like he’ll be a wonderful addition to the family!

Oh - I love the traditional Siamese look! He’s so pretty, I want to steal him!!! He can come play with my crazy Seal Point Siamese mix!

I love that photo - he’s totally posing. Beautiful cat and props to you for rescuing him.

Awwww, how sweet is that! Thank you for saving him. He is a beautiful, beautiful kitty. Congratulations!

Thank you for all the kind words.
We sure are proud of the little guy, that’s for sure.
He fits right in with the rest of us at our house.
I can only hope that we can make his new life here with us, a very happy one.

By the way, changing a cat’s name, even when he’s used to one, isn’t that difficult. We adopted a year-old cat and named her Cinnamon; a year or so later, a crazy cat friend came to visit, took one look at her, and told me, “Her real name is Emily, you know.” I asked Cinnamon/Emily, “Is she right?” To which she replied, in clear Cat, “Of course she is, you moron!”

So she’s been Emily ever since. She also still calls all her humans a moron at least once a day, but we’ve gotten used to it. Clearly, we can never be sufficiently trained to her high standards.

Whoa, Luca is beautiful! He’s like a chocolate truffle.

I wish you had phrased that sentence “I’ve named him Luca” or “We call him Luca.” You know why.

He’ll get along with the others sooner or later. They all work it out. I’m sure you know that though.

Five is the perfect number of cats in a household. Just ask Pearl, adopted cat #5 (the black & gold tortie on the far right), shown with three of the other household beasts. Nijel the Destroyer is not in the picture, however Ajax (b&w), Milo (white & butterscotch) and Mrs. Peel (gray tabby) deigned to pose in a picture that shows why I don’t bother to make up the bed every day.

Pearl is currently trying on various names - she came with the name Pearl off kitty death row (behavioral problems that vanished five minutes after she came home with me), but I’m leaning toward Nellie Bly.

Luca is beautiful! I like to see people with more cats than I have (i currently have 4). It makes feel a little less crazy.

Kittycoma induced! Beautiful!

Thank you, everyone.
You know, that picture really doesn’t show Luca’s true colors very well.
In that picture, he looks like he’s brown and tan, when in reality, he’s off-white and grey.
Stupid camera.
