Another Damn "ID This Song" Thread

Had this song running through my head for the last few days and I just can’t place it.

I’m pretty sure it’s called “All Night Long” but it’s not Lionel Richie and it’s not AC/DC so it currently defies googling.

I do remember that whatever album it was on, it was the very last song on the B side.

It’s got a nice rock beat … think The Blasters or Doug and the Slugs. “All night long” are the sole lyrics.

I can remember the end (which has been driving me nuts) … it goes …

Guitar riff

“All night long”

Same guitar riff

“All Night long”

Same guitar riff

“All Night long”

Twice, followed by the final bars being a sax riff on the main theme to the closing.

Help a brother out here.

Albums have a “B” side?

it might be, All Night Long (Cozy Powell Mix), it doesnt end with a sax, but a keyboard which could be mistaken for a sax. It was the last song of the second disc to 2011 deluxe edition release.

the original version of the song is this one, Rainbow - All Night Long 1979

Nope … not as hard rock as that … more ofa boogie type beat.

Umm, Bob Luman - All Night Long, maybe?

Nope. It was pretty much an instrumental until the last few stanzas where we hear the lines I quoed above. As far as I can remember, those were the only vocals.

Joe Walsh has a song called All Night Long, right?

He did, but that’s not it.

Aerosmith - Train Kept a Rolling (all night long) ???

Originally done by The Rock and Roll Trio and a great version by the Yardbirds…

This may not be the *version *you’re looking for, but is this the song? All Night Longby Joe Houston.

Yes! That’s the song, but not the artist. Now I only have to find who did a cover of it …

Found it! Ruben and the Jets!

Thanks for all your help!

Been looking for this myself since 2000-bloody-5

I have a text file on my hard drive with notes I made about the riff, including the repeated, isolated phrase “all night long”. Didn’t have enough to go on (for some silly reason it never occurred to me that it would actually be named “All Night Long”).

In my case it’s the Rainbow hard-rock song linked to above.
