A few of you read and liked my original series of novels. Because other Dopers have done it, I thought I’d announce that I’m now in the midst of publishing my next thing. It’s a long novel in seven parts; three have published. The rest come out every consecutive Friday 'til it’s over.
It’s mostly romance, with healthy doses of swashbuckling, derring-do, survival, political machination, and a soupcon of science fiction. My target audience is women, but plenty of men have enjoyed my books, too. If *you *enjoy this one, *please *leave an Amazon review. They’ve just rejiggered their mechanics so reviews are super-duper important
I spot read various random pages. Very good. I was surprised at how good it was considering it was on Kindle. Generally I only read books in book format though.
I am slowly moving toward making Robert163 happy at me … the omnibus edition of my new novel is now available for preorder, the paperback edition will appear on Amazon in the next day or two, and today part one is free to download for Kindle. Y’know, because the first hit oughta be free.
Okie dokie, here we go. The (pricey) paperback is now available! Omnibus ebook edition coming August 7… or you could read it piece by piece. Parts 1-6 are live, 7 comes out on Friday.
With Amazon’s publishing tools, you have to be approximately good enough to create a Word file . I improve as a writer with every book, though, and have turned down a couple of small publishers in favor of keeping complete control over my work until and unless someone “big” picks me up.
In the meantime, my writing is paying for the booze, so I call it a win-win.
Grin! Da truth! I’m currently proofreading for a second edition of a book someone put up on Amazon. He let through TONS of grammatical and spelling errors. (Average of ten per manuscript page. 300 pages – around 3,000 errors!)
Grin again! I wish I could say that I improve with every book; the sad truth is that there is a kind of “roll the dice” effect, and now and then you get snake-eyes. This happens to everyone! Stephen King has one or two clunkers in the middle of all the good stuff.
(I’m currently about 3/4 done with…a clunker. Bummer, but there it is. I’ll finish it, throw it up on Amazon…and try again! Seven come Eleven! Poppa needs a burger and fries!)
I’m giving this one more bump, then I’ll let sleeping dogs lie: the first installment of my newest novelis free to download for Kindle (and the free Kindle Reader app, which runs on just about any device) today.
The whole thing is available in paperback, too, and the ebook omnibus comes out next Friday. Thanks!
