another god question

[ignorance]If God (the christian one) is all forgiving, isn’t it about time he forgave us all and sent us back to eden, i mean its been along time since that naked bloke took that apple out of that tree, right? [/ignorance]

[obvious]And there’s some reason you think he didn’t?[/obvious]

This cant be Eden, if it is, explain Eminem and George Bush, i thought only good stuff was in Eden?

Eden’s no fun. They didn’t even know they were naked.

No Eden was fun, they didn’t know they were naked, but didn’t worry about what they had.

Not to mention all of those talking animals.

Mmmm talking animals

A long time ago, I pointed out that deep time is a problem for religions that predicted timelines. Of course many mainstream denominations did drop this business of a predicted end of time, but it has not been removed completely IMO. I think also that a follower of X religion that has lasted for thousands of years would be lucky to just being called a heretic if he were to time travel to the beginning of their faith.

Realizing that the Dinosaurs roamed the earth for 300 million years or so, I would think a god that give us intelligence to find that out, would sound truly like a bargain basement priced deity if Humanity were not to last as long. I think he doesn’t care of the changes religion will have to follow after humanity continues its course.

Even following pessimist scenarios (war, disease, etc) I think humanity will last very long.

I am an agnostic so I don’t know what god has planed, but I estimate I am right in thinking he will not care about the changes and the disappearance of faiths during that time. I fear though that extreme followers of religion do know that future generations will laugh at their memories so history should end now. I do worry when they have access to the button.

But even after something that terrible, I think humans will still continue. Our purpose is to make sure religion remains benevolent, and to make efforts to change it with the times, since I think it will remain with us for a very long time.

You’re assuming that forgiveness has to be unconditional.

If you had enough apples, you could make a really good pie.
