The movie dates back to no later than the late 1980’s.
A man has undergone some kind of upheaval in his life (his woman left him, his dog died, something). He’s at a bar, drinking straight shots of liquor. The bartender pours him a shot, the guy downs it, then puts the glass back on the bar, to find that the bartender is no longer paying attention to him and is washing glasses or something.
GUY: Are you the bartender?
BARTENDER: Yes.
GUY: Then keep the fucking glass full.
