Please, please, help me! A friend and I are searching for the name and artist of a particular song, and I swore to him that someone here would have the answer. The reputation of the entire board rests on your shoulders. Don’t make me look bad!
In the Jackie Chan movie “Rumble in the Bronx”, there is a song that that plays during the outtakes at the end, in which you can clearly hear the name “Jackie Chan” mentioned several times. What is this song? Anybody own the soundtrack? Bueller?
“Kung Fu Fighting” was originally a huge song for one-hit wonder Carl Douglas in 1974. (Inexplicitly, his follow-up record, “Dance the Kung Fu”, failed to make the Top 40).
If they are starting to dredge up 70s songs like this then be afraid–be very afraid. No doubt songs like “I’ve Never Been to Me” are lurking just out of view in the shadows…
No offense, but how old are you? If “Kung Fu Fighting” is indeed the song you were talking about, It was originally done by Carl Douglas ( can you say 1 hit wonder?)in 1974. He followed it with the mildly sucessful “Dance the Kung Fu”. Jeeze, respect the classics, please!
Uh, if I’m remembering correctly, the song at the end of Rumble in the Bronx is not KMFDM. It’s a band called Ash doing the song “Jackie Chan”. But maybe that’s a different Jackie Chan movie?
Ash’s song is definitely in the soundtrack, though I don’t know where it appears in the movie (which I haven’t seen). But it isn’t called “Jackie Chan” - it’s called “Kung Fu.”
The song is not Carl Douglas’ ‘Kung Fu Fighting’. It sounds nothing like it. The two have nothing in common. However, “Kung Fu Fighting” and KMFDM were the results given to me by Napster when I typed in “Rumble in the Bronx”. It gave me several results, and they all had the same artist and title. I only downloaded one of these, but it was in fact the song I was searching for. Therefore, I am assuming that it is the song’s name and artist, or else there are a lot of very confused Napster users who like Jackie Chan movies.
