So, if you snapped your fingers and the dreaded boogeyman that is the NRA disappeared, everything would be hunky dory? If only the US had gun laws like a more enlightened place such as France.
Let’s see, where to begin… I guess I’ll start things off with false dilemma fallacy and let others take it from there.
Cartooniverse, I’ve usually enjoyed reading your posts. But not this one. It’s pretty ugly. I’m hoping you’ll come back and say you were in a bad mood or something, and just popped that one off without thinking. We all do that once in a while.
This is a warning for you. Three notes have been already posted in this thread telling everyone not to use this thread for a debate about heavy gun control or politic discussion. Although some is probably unavoidable, your post here very clearly isn’t just a “lite” post about it.
Take any discussion about it to the Pit or GD threads about this incident.
Sorry to interrupt the gun debate, but Daniel’s boyfriend just got a message from one of the survivors - Daniel was apparently in a hallway during the shooting and instead of running away through the door himself was urging and helping others through it until he was killed. He saved at least 4 lives.
It’s possible that he was targeted for that, or that the shooter had a problem with him being really, really flamboyantly gay. Or just that he happened to me be in the way of bullets that were spraying everywhere.
Turns out not only was he a super cool guy, he was goddamn hero.
Oh hell.
I am so very sorry.
My condolences, for what they are worth.
Daniel sounds like he was amazing. What a terrible loss to everyone. I’m so, so sorry.
Farook’s neighbor, the one who bought the long guns for him, is Hispanic. Apparently they were childhood friends.
Well, either Farook played him for a sucker, or the friend was a straw purchaser. Farook was apparently smart enough to realize that a guy like him buying assault rifes would raise all kinds of red flags, even if it was legal.
Please clarify what you mean by “a guy like him”. Be specific.
I think you know what I mean.
People with “Arabic Sounding Names”, “Middle Eastern Name”, “Foreign Sounding Names”, funny names, whichever phrase is the least insulting, sometimes have trouble because of terrorist suspicions nowadays.
Apparently we need gun control but only for brown people.
Apparently we need gun control but only for brown people.
I suspect that a healthy portion of the electorate would actually support that.
The neighbor/childhood friend is a security guard.

He was also a Renaissance Faire participant and a member of my guild.

You’re a Cuthie?
I’m a Monger. Daniel was awesome in just about every way.
I think you know what I mean.
Pretend I don’t.
I think you know what I mean.
Like guys on the terror watch list? Obama and his fans keep talking about that and his opponents don’t seem to get it. Seems weird to deny a guy his rights just because he’s "suspected " of being a terrorist.
To be fair, the media reports that neither Syed Farook nor his wife were on the terror watch list.
