So he got pissed at his co-workers, went home and his wife just said “sure, I’ll help you kill everyone you work with!” does this really pass the sniff test for you?
You expect rationality from people who just shot up a bunch of people at a party?
Sounds also like something that was being planned, and the altercation was the excuse to leave after seeing that his targets were all in the same place.
I can’t believe, that if it was some sort of organized/planned terrorism, or if ISIS was involved somehow, we haven’t found a “GOTCHA” note, or heard ISIS claim responsibility.
For someone who knows more about firearms than I, if these were military type weapons, why are there so many wounded? Would it not be more likely that they were dead?
It looks like what we’ve got here is a hybrid of an IS-type attack and a “postal”-type attack. A devout Muslim perpetrator, who had evidently been plotting something for a long time; but instead of attacking a random public place, he targets his co-workers.
Extremist ideologies often attract people who are already disaffected or resentful about something, so it wouldn’t be surprising if it turned out that this guy was radicalized.
Chill out, back off. We’re here to share what we know and are learning about this case. If you want to GD it, then go there.
Um, quite a few people did die. There are a lot of ways for people to get wounded in a panic situation that don’t involve actually being shot (tripping / getting trampled / debris falling / etc). And apparently explosives were used as well so there’s a million ways to get wounded (but not die) there. And even if you are shot, regardless of how powerful the firearm it’s quite possible to sustain a gunshot wound and live depending on the point and angle of impact.
That, or possibly include that they could have also been preparing for some apocalyptic end-times event, and the building anger at work (over a long time) gave them the place to vent their violent rage.
For the survivors, fortunately the shooters aimed poorly. Not like, unfortunately, the Paris cafe shootings a few weeks back.
“Going postal” does not automatically remove radicalization and/or terrorism issues. What I’m trying to say is that to me it looks like there was a plan to do something big but an incident at the party moved their plot ahead of his/her schedule.
It is to me like some incident where a few decades ago IIRC a survivalist unregulated militia group with nefarious plans beforehand got mad with a family and almost killed them in a hail of bullets because their car backfired and made the group think that they were shooting at them.
Point is that a group may have already plans for terror and were waiting for an order or a big chance but a more immediate and personal incident triggered their action.
Or they could have been planning something but hadn’t decided where to do it, and he got pissed at the party and decided to kill two birds with one AR-15.
It’s going to entirely depend on where they were hit and how many times. I would assume that once the shooting started most people in the room dived for cover. Those who were the first targeted or the slowest would be the ones who took multiple hits to the torso. The quick and the ones on the edge of the crowd would be the ones with hits to the limbs or non-center of mass hits.
Sheer speculation, of course. At this point we the general public have zero info to go on as to what exactly happened in that room.
It’s clear that this is a terrorist attack. Plain and simple. No one should deny that. Even President Obama should not deny this as well.
Thanks.
Terrorism is usually directed against random strangers. If you kill your coworkers because you’re pissed off at them, that’s not terrorism, even if you have an Arab name.
It’s a weird attack. A husband/wife team of murderers who drop their six-month-old baby off with a grandparent before they go on a shooting spree? It doesn’t fit into normal patterns for either spree killings or terrorism.
Hopefully the police will be able to piece together more information soon.
“When I begin my global jihad, those assholes at the county Public Health Department will be the first to go!”
It sounds like a joke, but it’s exactly the sort of fatuous thinking that I believe usually motivates these acts.
That’s right, it makes a big fucking difference if a president sprints to a microphone and utters the word “terrorism”.
Exactly. Events at work might have influenced their target selection, but they were clearly going to commit a terrorist attack somewhere. They had a fucking pipe bomb lab in their house!
No, it isn’t.
I don’t deny it might be; but it still might just be an instance of workplace violence.
