Yes, from my Facebook feed I learned that this is definitely terrorism, and that “the Left” will claim that it was simple workplace violence, but also (paradoxically) that it was the victims’ fault for throwing a Christmas party rather than a politically correct “holiday party.”
More likely bought them, didn’t care for them, and sold them off to his friend and roommate. Since the guy had bought handguns there was no real reason he would have needed someone to “straw” a couple rifles for him.
I read that they dropped off their six-month-old daughter with her grandmother that morning, and according to the family, they said they were leaving her because of a doctor’s appointment. If so, that further supports the idea that this was planned.

I have read that a theory ascribed to by military planners is that a seriously wounded soldier is better than a dead one. A dead soldier gets buried or sent home to be buried. A seriously wounded soldier requires several other soldiers to stop fighting, attend their wounded comrade and then expend significant resources getting the wounded person to hospital and recovery.
Certainly the weapons are deadly, but at a point in their design they were deemed ‘deadly enough’ and did not require ore stopping power. One of the classic arguments between NATO 5.56mm weapons and Soviet 7.62mm designs.

Well, he’s not Arabic. CBC says he’s an American of Pakistani descent. I haven’t seen any information about the woman other than the name and uninformed speculation. Edit: CNN claims she’s from Saudi Arabia, so if true she would be Arabic.
Gawd, I wish there was a friggen answer to this problem. Shooting kids in an elementary school, or disabled people at a holiday party even pisses off Satan. What the hell is wrong with people anymore?
Disabled people at a holiday party? I thought the party was for department of health employees? It’s a venue that gets rented out. Not that it makes it less evil just less accurate.

IMO, people lack hope. They no longer have a sense of control over their lives, and that makes them frightened, angry, and lash-out-y. I don’t want to start a debate, so I’ll just state my opinion and leave it at that. If we take the government away from corporations and ‘the 1%’, and return the government to the people, if we pay people living wages, if we raise up people who are in the lower strata of society, if we provide better, cheaper education… in short, if we ‘Support the General Welfare’ [NB: I’m not talking about ‘Welfare’], people would not be so desperate. Would it end this sort of thing? No. But I think it would reduce the occurrences. I think hopeful people are less prone to violence.
But if anyone wants to discuss that, they can start another thread; which I may or may not post to.
I’ve seen contradictory information. They were married for two years, except he went to Saudi Arabia last Spring and came back married but they have a 6 month old.

The terrorism aspect doesn’t seem vital.
In another thread I pointed out that in an air incident like the Russian over Egypt I would prefer it to be terror since the alternative is a plane that just cracks up once in the air.
In the same vein I would be more comforted by terrorist bastards slaughtering randomly than ordinary work colleagues coming in pissed off. One can allow for terrorist threats; for normal people, not so much.

Someone I know who worked in that building is missing.
He was originally thought to be wounded, but in surgery, but it turned out that was someone else (in the chaos at the beginning, they were concerned more about getting everyone treated than properly identified.
I really hope he’s OK, but it’s looking grim.
