And, as one of my friends would say, “right on schedule”.
Found out from my sister today that, this coming October, my nephew Lizardboy is going to be a big brother. Right after his second birthday! And thus, I will be an aunt again again again.

Congratulations, Auntie Kat! So, are you the “cool aunt” who buys them ice cream and lets them stay up late?
Of course I am. I’m also the cool aunt who has comics and toys to play with (I bought 'em for me, but they don’t have to know that).
Let me ask you a question, please. My niece was born last week. What’s an appropriate new-baby gift? I’m going to see her this weekend, and I don’t want to come empty-handed.
A drum set.
My nephew (who is 18 months now) has several Baby Einstein videos that he just loves. He’s got, I think, Baby Einstein, Baby Mozart and the two Baby Dolittle (Neighborhood Animals and World Animals). Or a bath set (baby washcloth, towel, bath toy and baby shampoo/lotion) might be nice–I have been the “bath person” for my niece-to-be and both my nephews, because everyone else seems to overlook that (in favor of baby clothes, bibs, booties and stuffed animals), and I think the baby bath stuff is so cute.
My dad got my daughter a drum set when she was about 3 year old. Dad called it “Grandpa’s Revenge”. When she was about 2 he got her this train that the cool thing about it, Grandpa thought, was that even if this train stopped it still played music.
This gal I know in the local bar says when she gets that call of a new niece or nephew; if its a girl she’s an aunt; if its a boy she’s an uncle. Good analogy, Get them all drum sets!
I’m saving the drum set for her third birthday, but this Christmas I’m going to get her the loudest, shrillest baby toy I can find. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Put my dolls in the freezer when I was eight, did ya, Rob? Feel the wrath of my brightly-colored vengeance!
Kat, how does your nephew feel about the newest addition?
He hasn’t objected yet. He may when it happens, because he’ll be just past his 2nd birthday then.
(My other nephew, who is 13, is looking forward to another cousin, as are my 2 step-nieces.)
Hmmm…I hope he doesn’t go through that “I’m the baby!” phase. Of course, some kids love having a younger brother/sister. What have his parents told him?
Pretty much just that he’s going to be a big brother.
