Another salvage law question....

So, several months ago, I was reading the exploits of a guy on another board who was into “Urban Exploration”. He had some great pictures of some abandoned houses, and other things of that nature.

One of the pictures he had was of a bathroom of a house that looked to have been abandoned since at least the 60’s. (all the papers and such he found were from that era).

In the bathroom of this house, in addition to the graffiti, torn up walls and broken glass, there was a very neglected claw-foot tub.

I have wondered ever since, what would stop someone from just pulling up a truck and taking that incredibly cool, though needing to be cleaned, tub.

What would be the way to do it legally? When I was a kid, I always found empty houses out in the middle of nowhere that had cool stuff in them.

Well, as the property had probably escheated to the state or municipality years ago, if he was caught on the premises, he could’ve been charged with trespassing, especially if the property was posted, and if he was caught removing anything from the premises, he could’ve been arrested for burglery.
