If there’s any good to be found here it’s that the Republicans are condemning his comments. At least in public.

Hey! I just read the OP’s link, and noticed it’s by Gene Lyons. He’s a great columnist. Lives on a dirt road in rural Arkansas, runs some livestock, knows how to handle guns and rednecks, etc. – and he’s a LIBERAL! With a sharp snarky wit too, often. I recommend him to Dopers.

Anyway, nobody in this thread is really addressing the point of the OP, being obsessed instead on Bundy’s racist implosion. The racist stuff is truly ugly, but it really has little to do with his “beef” with the BLM. OTOH, Lyons’s claim that he just bought that spread in Nevada and moved in relatively recently really DOES have to do with his claims of long-standing “rights” to use that land. As Little_Pig points out in the OP, that fact, if true, really and truly totally trashes any semblance of a claim he could have to any legacy rights to that land.
Oh, I got that bit right away. We’d already known he’d paid for years but only in the last decade or so did he suddenly have an issue with paying the Feds. This new “newcomer” development and him getting chatty after becoming the neocon darling is just the cherry on the top, and the latter is a lot funnier.
I get that the Feds don’t want to have a Waco situation on their hands, but why not get a sniper, a chopper, and thin the herd when it crosses on to Federal land? The cows, I mean, not the rednecks.

Same here – I just noticed it when Jon Stewart was showing the latest installment last night. I like him calling out Hannity but in the end it doesn’t make any difference.

So the Congressman (Democrat) who represents Cliven Bundy’s district is saying that Bundy and his horseback riding vigilantes have set up roadblocks on the streets and highways around Bunkerville and won’t let people through unless they have IDs which show they live in the area.

Now, today, there’s a couple of things. He’s still threatening lethal force, and there are still armed idiots with him who don’t recognize the feds’ legitimacy.

Gawker just shared an article about the infighting amongst the militia groups, and how after one left (after first claiming they had intel that Obama was plotting to kill them all with a drone strike), Bundy called them traitors and deserters. So he’s still good for some fun quotes.
