I am still dumbfounded you could be confused about what **Giraffe ** posted, but moving on from that…
I grew up in a town that had around 60% whites and 35% blacks in the schools. Many of the blacks were from poor families that had been in the town for generations. Some of the black kids resented the whites suburban kids that were moving into the town or the army brats that would not be staying in the town. Some of these blacks would look for an excuse to beat up a smaller white kid. At the same time the overwhelming majority did not. Additionally, in one case when the smaller white kid that was about to be beat up was me, a friend, a black friend in fact, came to my defense and the other kids backed down. I never let my experience cause me to hate or fear blacks. I did allow my experience and a few others cause me to hate a few select punks that happened to be black. I also hated a pair of whites that were quite honestly nothing but dumb bullies.
It sucks that some blacks gave you a hard time. It sucks that this continues to happen to other people. It is a two way street. Sometimes it is racial; sometimes it is just punks or bullies picking out the weak or the loners to make themselves feel more important. I was lucky I guess, I had a lot of friends and I learned to avoid the punks and bullies in situations that would lead to me getting my ass kicked.
Some people are just punks, most are not.

And this was in graduate school at Tennessee State University? I find it difficult to believe that African-Americans only blocks away from where I taught high school for 20 years would be more likely to be filled with hatred and resentment towards whites than their teenage counterparts. In the high school these kids got along well. They even elected a white Student Body President.
What would make reasonably well-behaved students in high school get a degree from college and turn into racially bigoted terrorists along the way? If they’ve made it through four years of college, they’re motivated and focused. They are not going to be walking around campus looking for white meat.
