This memory semi-emerged a few days ago and has been driving me crazy since. A TV show from about five years ago, pretty sure it was a single season, definitely it was on a broadcast network.
There were aliens (naturally) who could pass for humans. There’s a lot of paranoia over that though I don’t remember them doing anything to justify our fearing them. The chief ‘villian’ in charge of … hunting them down? Containing them? was a harsh faced man. At some point a bunch of the aliens have fled/escaped and are living sort of camped out, at least, not living inside of houses.
Was it set in Florida after a hurricane? If I remember correctly the aliens come during hurricanes, and there was a hint that a previous hurricane also brought some.
There was a group of illegal immigrants with aliens among them living out in a mangrove swap camp.
It was on ABC for one or two seasons and was called Invasion I think?
I think there was another one on NBC called “Surface” about the same time “Invasion” was on ABC? Jeez, for a while there you couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting an alien invasion show.
