Another "What Were They Thinking?" Toy Design

It may not squirt suspicious white goo like the Oozinator does, but the Dora the Explorer AquaPet sure as hell looks like it could.

Just … wow.

There’s a whole line of them! No matter what your…predilection…

Ha ha ha ha ha! Takes batteries and everything.

I think it should be displayed next to one’s Hello Kitty vibrat-er, “back massager”.

What, exactly, is Dora exploring these days?

Apparently, she’s taking up spelunking.

Good thing she hath a pith helmet…

Must… refrain… from joke about Marianas Trench…

“Dora…! Don’t Light That Match…!”

WHUUUUMP!!!
Look, up in the sky…!

Its a bird…

Its a plane…

It’s Dora, coming in for an Aqua-Landing…!

Oh dear me. I haven’t laughed like that in a long time.

For a real laugh, look down the Amazon page to the item entitled “A Kid’s Review.” Just as my initial laughter from seeing the photo subsided, I read that, and I was laughing like a madman again.

Damn, that’s funny.

Dora’s a big girl, now!

Or this:

Classic!

I have the Spongebob Version. The base is blue. The jokes are obvious.

I must be missing something 'cos I don’t see that one there.

And to add to the sheer inappropriateness, there’s one of these named Dilly. Og, I couldn’t write better material…

You’re missing it 'cause it was removed. It was a review written by a “12 year old” who took it to a sleepover party, where it was broken by a friend with fat legs.

snerk Probably fake, but woulda been fun to read.

The tags now read: phallic (3), adult (1), pink (1), toys (1)

And a new review: “Notice the button at the top right…“Get it for less, buy it USED!””

Now shows “Availability: This item is currently not available.” Looks like somebody is doing some hasty damage control?

It said you could add this to your wedding registry…what an interesting bridal shower that would be…

Apart from removing inappropriate tags and reviews, I can’t see how much damage control they can do with this – even with new pictures from different angles, there’s just no getting around the product’s … er … design flaws.

Aquapets have been out for close to two years. They all have the same exterior as the Dora model. Why are people just noticing now?

What the hell do they DO, actually?

(If not the obvious, that is!)
