During a guitar lesson this evening, a chord progression conjured up a song that I hear on the radio a lot. Unfortunately, I don’t know the name of is or the artist. It’s a male singer, the rhythm at the beginning is a sort of Latin-flavored riff. The lyrics. . .well, that’s a problem. It seems to me that part of it is something like “. . .they walked in to the (?) and they started dancing”. That’s all I’ve got. Any help?
The lyrics don’t quite match, but the construction of the phrasing, as well as the Latin-tinged melody, makes me think it might be “The Way” by Fastball.
A search for your lyrics turned up Confidence by Justin Bieber. And based on listening for 10 seconds on Youtube, it seems to have a Latin best.
That’s the first thing I thought of.

The inspiration for the song is kinda heartbreaking.
I sometimes suspect Dopers have colluded to amaze the rest of us by identifying songs or movies with minimal information. I mean, there’s no way someone pulls out the correct 20-year old song based on a description of “latin-flavored” and some incorrect lyrics. 
Having done it at least once that I can recall, it does feel like getting an SDMB Merit Badge or something. You read the OP, it hits you, you post, done.

See, this one I totally understood. Once I heard his answer and read the OP, I though it couldn’t be anything else. But, there’s more. He also got this one. OK, that one I understand as well.
But I have no idea what black magic he used to figure this one out. I mean, okay, Dan Fogelberg is mentioned in the OP, but that description sounds almost nothing like the song the linked to me. This poster has a gift.
