Nashville is correct (it’s from “Nashville Cats” by the Lovin’ Spoonful), but Denver is wrong.

Boston.

The Denver verse (from memory, so if I err, please excuse it):

Please come to Denver when the snow flies.
We’ll move up into the mountains so far that we can’t be found,
And throw “I love you” echoes down the canyons,
And lie awake at night 'till they come back around.
Please come to Denver; she just said no…

No paintings in Denver. Those were in Boston.

Bingo- I figured you had the wrong verse of the right song!

[Never second guess yourself.]

I know what song it’s from…trying to find that piece of my brain that contains the full lyric…gimme a minute here…

ETA: Omaha is mentioned in the song, but that’s not a state capital

ETA # 2: Little Rock???

Yes- from Grand Funk’s “We’re on American Band.”
“On the road for 40 days,
Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze.
Sweet, sweet Connie was doing her act.”
