Anti-gay republican gets DUI after leaving gay nightclub

There is no gay agenda. Absolutely none.

Signed,
Russell
Secretary
southwest regional gay agenda planning committee.

Some of us lean left, which I’m sure is just a coincidence.

I mean my left. That would be *your *right.

That would be right – I mean correct.

I wish the majority of conservatives in the US would get over this idea that gay = bad. I know it’s not all of them, but it’s probably 90-95% of them. It’s sad, because it means that guys like this state senator can never be honest with himself, his family, or his constituents.

And not all gays lean left. An old friend of mine – now dead – who was one of the first people that I knew that was open about being gay, was also very conservative politically in most other ways: high-church Anglican, and old-fashioned Tory. If 5% or so of left-wingers are gay, there’s no reason why 5% of right-wingers shouldn’t be gay too.

Not if you’re behind me.

Are you SURE?

How is everyone supposed to know if Pilates class is right after morning communal showers and right before brunch, or right after brunch, and right BEFORE the showtunes singalong?

I could get behind this agenda, except it involves showtunes and other guys. But hey, beats workin’.

Oh it’s a lot more complicated than that. Or at least it would be if there was a gay agenda. Which there isn’t.

You can’t fool me! I found it. It’s marked “secret” and everything!

(And I think there’s a nekkid statue at the top of the page. Pervs.)

I don’t mind being behind the agenda, I just don’t want it behind me!

Yep. I recall reading an article several years ago (probably in the LA Times) that this is a particularly prevalant idea among Latinos. As long as you’re the active partner rather than the passive, you’re just using the other man the way you’d use a woman, so it’s not gay. The other partner is gay, the one actually being penetrated, but not the one doing the penetrating! You could get your lollipop licked by 27 guys in the course of a week, and still be considered straight.

The article was about how, because of this, it was difficult to spread safer sex messages within the Latino community, and even to get any idea of how much safe or unsafe sex was happening, because these guys genuinely didn’t think that sex between two males was ‘gay sex’.

Like I said, it was quite a few years ago, so I’ve probably gotten a lot of the details wrong, but the essence of the article stuck with me.

The problem is that for a lot of people, in a choice between the group whose economic policies you hate and the group that wants to treat you as subhuman, mentally ill, and disgusting, the former is probably going to win out.

As a longtime former resident of Sacramento, I can assure you that Faces is in NO WAY AT ALL a “secret headquarters”. Or even a secret hindquarters.

Faces is the number one gay club in the Valley, bar none, as far as I know.

I have never been, but most of my female friends have at one point or another.

Did anyone else open this thread and think “Oh man, I can’t wait for Dan Savage’s next column”?

And now we hear of the Vatican usher and a gay prostitution ring.

If you can show Massa has a history of voting for and heading anti-sexual harassment legislation you have a fair argument.

Roy Ashburn has made a career voicing his anti-gay stances. He has made campaign promises on these issues to raise money for his elections. His hypocrisy deserves to be called out.

Pointing out Massa is a Democrat and ‘presumably opposed to sexual harassment’ hardly makes my definition of blatant hypocrisy. If he actually turned out to be a Republican his being a Democrat might be relevant for that definition. If he has campaigned on strengthening anti-harassment policies your comparison might be relevant.

In short your comparison is fucking weak, come back and attack the OP for his position when you have a comparable level of hypocrisy.

This is my Senator too. I’ve often wondered about some of the local politicians who kiss his ass and work far far far too hard to hate the gays and make laws against them. This is probably the leading such district in CA, and arguably in the entire US.

It clear there has been some serious ass-kissing going on. I expect more of this locally in the future - the locals who run for higher office can not keep things secret forever.

RE: your statement Maggie… My brother who is currently enjoying the northern area of afghanistan sent me an article which i can’t locate right now. Essentially it was about afghani men infecting one another with std’s anally. It seems that afghani men don’t consider having sex with another man as being “gay”. This inhibits the military and govt from giving them safe sex information because of course… THEY aren’t gay…
I put this with the aforementioned post by the OP as an example of what we men can do with our minds… absolutely amazing. I was a fan of the HBO series “OZ”. The storyline…the acting the volatility of actors… their was something Shakesperean to me about it. When i use to discuss it other guys… immediately to conversation turned to anal sex… and Heterosexual men’s fascination with it. Clearly the sex on OZ was strictly power and violence… except for a very very few instances.

I think the elephant in the room is that they insist that being gay is a (wrong) choice. There is a reason that they believe this.

(Emphasis added)
So, you’re saying that there are anti-gay people who think that everyone is tempted by homosexual urges? (I know, you just said that. It’s a foreign concept to me). So they have to deal with daily (or just occasional) bouts of feeling attracted to members of their own sex? And they think this is normal, and since they identify these urges as sinful, they’re not gay? I’m not trying to sound stupid here, though the words my fingers are typing certainly sound a little ignorant.

Is this something they talk about openly? That it’s a temptation that they face over and over again? Sometimes several times per evening?

These people make no sense to me. I think that right wing zealotry is learned – innocent young people are exposed to it on talk radio and by “friends” they meet in college or other places where degenerates congregate. If it’s learned, it can be unlearned, and I think we can help them.

You’ve got to remember that for many religious folk, being gay is natural, but still wrong. Many people spend their lives not just denying it but fighting it, the way an alcoholic will wage a constant war against drink, even if they never give in.

To have society, or that portion which you respect, tell you you’re an abomination for what you are, well…it’s VERY easy to see how/why someone gay would deny that and marry hetero.
I mean, come on. Life is for life, but hell is forever, right?

I still hope the truly hypocritical ones go to hell, figuratively or otherwise. >.<
