Anti-Jehovah's Witness tactics (need answer fast)

You shouldn’t have to have any knowledge; it’s not like they can interrogate you about it while shunning you.

What preprepaired counter scriptures might those be?

That’s an interesting question[s].

Please clarify/expand your thought on this.

I have a Jehovah’s witness neighbor and an Assembly of God/Baptist neighbor. The AoG is worse than the JW… it’s fun to watch their weak theological arguments banking back and forth.

That’s it! If you have an AoG friend, sic them on the Jehovah’s.
I thought the universe was going to end when I saw the Baptists knocking on my Jehovah witness neighbor’s door. It was like some alternative universe. Don’t cross the streams!

I will say this, it was all in good neighborly, Golden Rule, and measured apologetics. Really, fun to watch and totally in good nature.

“Sic”; “Piss off”…
I don’t know what religion/philosophy/way of life you who saw fit to use these terms in this thread live by. Well, it doesn’t matter. If I had never heard of the Witnesses I think you would have repelled me anyway; as it stands you have the appeal, to me, of a dead cat or a diabetic coma.

As opposed to your way of life…attacking people for their beliefs? Gossip and condemnation? Get thee behind me hypocrite.

Oh, the irony!

The poster to whom you responded is nobody’s drone, and definitely not that of a collective.

You can use this site to give you a start:

http://www.bible.ca/jw.htm

But realize by using that you are doing to them exactly what they are doing to you, and that brings you exactly to their level, but again it will work.

Bless you in Jesus’ name. I really don’t know what you think of me, but I have left everything to follow Lord Jesus, and been through some really rough things, things directly described in scriptures. Things that only God could have gotten me through. It is the time that God is restoring all that was taken from me, and much more, and it still very encouraging to see posts like this (again no matter what you think of me, at least you have seen that I have been set free, which I attribute to Jesus and Jesus alone, who I will forever praise.

I was interested in your own thoughts, not a hyperlink.

What is “their level”?

I disagree with what I think you’re stating. Science can indeed make a commentary, but can only comment upon likelihoods. According to our current knowledge of science, we find it highly unlikely that the earth was formed in 6 days. However, science by definition is a process, and one that makes such statements subject to change.

Highly unlikely hypothetical scenario: If someone at CERN discovers that a certain nanoparticle can date the formation of an atom to within days, and then someone else drills to the center of the earth and tests all atoms along the drill site for this particle, and discovers that they are indeed within the span of 6 days, then our minds will change. We’ll have lots of data suggesting one way, lots suggesting another, we’ll figure out a way to rectify it, and come out with new theories.

Indeed, Inflation Theory is one of my personal pet peeves. According to the Big Bang, the universe was essentially infinitely dense. And then, suddenly, it moved faster than light and separated.

In other words, as I understand it, Inflation Theory states that the scientific “laws” we all know and love (that matter cannot co-locate and that the speed of light is constant and insurpassable mentioned above) were violated at some point by something we’re still trying to understand.

If Inflation Theory can state that, why can’t Creation Theory?

And that’s assuming that you take a literal interpretation of the Bible as it exists in modern English. Plenty of Christian religions don’t.

Let me make something clear here: I am willing to conduct an argument on objective terms. Using crude language such as I referred to in my last post is not ojbective. I will admit some of my descriptions are harsh but I don’t use deletable expletives and see no place for them in objective discussion.
If you have a grievance against the Witnesses tell me what it is or refer me to a previous thread that does so. American jurisprudence commands no less.

The obvious answer is to answer the second doorknock clad in nothing but cocoa butter - and a whole lot of it – and then to get really aggressive.

Sha-la-la that ain’t no crime!

And that’s how you react to anyone coming to your door (don’t kid me, you wouldn’t have time to ascertain who is at your door in time to decorate yourself!)?
Your tactic would impress the Witnesses that you are insane or excessively smart-aleck–hardly the kind of person worthwhile to discuss the Bible with.

What does it matter where preprepaired counter scriptures come from, it would be taking the Word of God out of context, which from Jesus’ temptation in the desert we see is exactly how Satan operates.

If I was not going to use scriptures I would simply ask ‘do you know Jesus?’, I would not accept any answer that does not define Jesus as a person that that JW knew personally.

They are trying to, to use a star trek term for the borg, assimilate people into their collective, it is a actual battle where words are used to accomplish the goal. They use parts of the Word of God out of context as a weapon and many will fall victim to it. By taking the Word out of context as a counter defense you are also attacking them, using the exact method. This internal war where both sides war against each other, where neither side is correct, is the way of the world, giving us something to do which is meaningless.

It is the basis of most conflicts in the world, and very prevalent IMHO in politics where both parties are wrong, but locked into fighting each other which makes the members cling tighter to their wrong beliefs.

The answer is the way of God through Jesus, which is love. If you have love in your heart for those JW’s God can use you to reach them and pull them out of the collective.

It is ironic that you would say “…By taking the Word out of context…” given that I have seen you-----more than any other poster-----misapply, butcher, and torture biblical texts with an almost blind, blissful abandon.

JWs employ the exact same method that Jesus, his Apostles and the first century used; to go out into the community and talk to people about Jesus, and to share their belief in him and his Father. They are quite pleased to use the bible as the bedrock of their sharing.

Touché!

Concur. What the hell is wrong with some of you?

I’ve had the JWs come by my house for years. I’m always polite, I never invite them in, but I’ve got my regular JW and we’re on friendly terms, and I think he’s a very nice guy. He rings up, we chit-chat a bit, he does his Awake! thing and pushes a Bible verse at me and we part friends. No harm, no foul, and I’ll see him next month.

I had a former coworker who was a JW. He was also a really great guy, and was willing to talk JW dogma with me, and it was interesting to hear the inside story as it were. We’d spar a bit sometimes, but it was in a congenial way.

My son’s day care worker when he was two was a wonderful woman that we became friends with. She’s perhaps 10 years older than us, and has become what we and her call our boy’s third Grandmother. And she’s JW and so is her whole family and it just never comes up as a problem. She’s good people, and I hope she thinks we are as well, and we’re good friends.

If the JW come to your door, at the very least be polite, and as firm as you need to be if you really do not wish to speak to them. Have the courage to not be jerks. K?
