New Year’s eve, I was hanging out with several friends and this woman who’s a friend of mine (we’re both single). Midnight rolls around, and we all clink glasses and pat each other on the back / shake hands. When she gets to me, she grabs me by the shirt collar and starts making out with me, very passionately.
Just thinking about the good start of 2008 makes me giddy. Thank God for large quantities of champagne.
I went to the barn this weekend and was assured that my mare is fat, sassy, and healthy (not to mention extremely fuzzy). The little girl whose family leases BadGirl loves the heck out of her. I miss riding every day, but it feels awfully good to know that BadGirl is making someone so happy.
After seeing all the coverage of political campaigns on television and hearing about what’s going on elsewhere, I have one other thing I’m grateful for. I’m exceedingly happy that I don’t live in Iowa!
Counter to the grisly experiences cited in a current Pit thread, our low-flush toilet is working beautifully.
Of course, with incandescent bulbs due to be phased out to save energy, it’ll probably be so dark in the bathroom that I’ll bark my shins on the toilet. For now though, all is well.
I currently live in a sucky-ass apartment complex, where my upstairs neighbors keep my up until at least midnight, every night, and the other night it was 3am and I had to get up at 6. My 9-year-old can’t play outside without being bullied. I hate this place with the passion of you-know-what.
Wednesday I put in my 30-day notice to move! We’re moving to a HOUSE, with a huge fenced backyard, and we’re going to get a dog! Imagine, being able to decide that you want to go to sleep at, say, 9! And being able to actually do it! Squee to the nth power! Every time I think of it, I am thrilled all over again! I’M MOVING!!!
My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant day in Calgary yesterday, before I had to come back up to Edmonton today. We began with a nice hike through the local bird sanctuary, where a black-capped chickadee decided to alight on my wife’s hand, looking for food. Sadly, he was disappointed to find she had none, but she was happy that he came by to say hello anyway. Then, we went exploring through an interesting part of town (Inglewood, for you Calgarians), and saw a lot of interesting shops and whatnot. Back home, we had cocktails, Van Morrison on the stereo, and a great dinner. Nice end to my Christmas break from school, though I am really looking forward to graduating and going back home for good!
I’m a little bit packed, but have been able to do a great deal of purging which is the hardest part, and I will definitely be ready and waiting on the 2/2. You said it- it will be a very good thing.
The reason I’ve stayed here 4 miserable, sleepless years is because my youngest son has some disability issues, and one perk through one of his service agencies is that they’ll pay a goodly part of my rent. Except they’re only contracted with this complex, and one in BFE out in the country where I don’t want to live. So I made a deal with the devil and have been living with a very, very low rent in exchange for living in an inner-city hell. All in all I’d have to say it’s been worth it, as I’ve had a good deal more disposable income than I otherwise would have. By stroke of good luck, I was recently able to finagle the same deal for a rental house, so I will still have low rent. I still don’t know how I did it, but HELL YEAH. 26 more days!!
