Well I think we have to take the high road here because it’s a Human Rights issue. I think Jews (us) must take responsibility for who we are. If we want a country, we have to spill blood for it, not have other (USA) nations do it for us.

Who is this “Pres. Harry Solomon Truman”. Never heard of the guy. Anybody who isn’t utterly ignorant of US history knows that the US has never had a president named “Harry Solomon Truman”. We have had a president named “Harry S Truman”, note no period after the “S”–his entire middle name was “S”.
You are not showing a willingness to debate the topic of this thread. But I will entertain you: There are many types of Jews, all over the place, Me, I’m an agnostic Jew, I know it sounds funny, but we’re people just like you, except we have Jewish genes and our blood comes from Rachel and Moses.
Harry Solomon was a character on Third Rock from the Sun, not a President.
John Kerry has relatives who were Jewish. He has been Catholic his entire life, and the remainder of his family is the same. So identifying him as Jewish is a bit odd. Unless of course you’re trying to cast him as a racial Jew and part of a conspiracy or something.
Franklin, the tone of your posts make it clear you consider yourself an intellectual giant, but there have been a few Straight Dope columns about that distinction and many, many threads. Although I doubt that Jewish ancestry is as clear as you’re saying it is.
The quote is agitprop from George Orwell’s novel 1984, which appeared as slogans, together with stuff like ‘Ignorance is Strength’ and 'Freedom is Slavery (these oxymorons illustrate ‘doublethink’, the ability to hold two conflicting ideas simultaneously). The novel is about a Stalinistic dictatorship, and therefore ‘they’ would be the government, personified by ‘Big Brother’ - nothing to do with Jews.
Franklin, in your first post you propose the term “Judosemitic.” I think that if we started using that one, you’d complain it was unfair to Arabs who do karate. So why don’t we just skip ahead to phase two and call them a term you’d really like, like untermenschen or something?

Franklin, you’ve been asked a number of times to come clean, so let’s get it all out on the table here for once and for all: what is your agenda? Without this knowledge the point of this debate is meaningless. It has been shown already that the term anti-semitism was coined by a Jew-hater in an attempt to make Jew-hating sound less harsh. Thus, from it’s vey beginning it’s meant hating Jews, so your whole premise is shot. Either you concede the debate, or you come clean and explain what your purpose really is (I think I have an idea). None of your posts so far have done anything but offer vague and sometimes conflicting responses (Jews changing from they to we all of a sudden, etc.). This is not what debating is about. Present your thesis, defend it with supportable statements, support those statements, and assess the rebuttals of others. Even in the thinnest vein of debating legitimacy, you have lost this one, so let’s hear the truth. Otherwise it would be best if this thread got shut down because it is not relevant to either Great Debates or rational discourse in the main.

As a Jew agnostic myself, I think we deserve an anthropological title: Whites are called Caucasian. So I think Jews, like me, should get to use the descriptor Judeosemitic. and Arabs can proudly define themselves as Islamosemitic.

Franklin Philly, this may qualify as a debate in some small corner of the world, but it really doesn’t qualify here. Just about everyone here has agreed that anti-semite is somewhat vague to be defined as someone who hates Jews. It can, of course, mean someone who hates all semitic peoples.

So you say you are a Jew, Franklin. I do not necessarily believe you, but will continue in good faith. (Incidentally, why did you say “they never take RESPONSIBILITY” earlier?)
Your genes would just as likely be Slavic, or Norman, or Frankish, or (yes!) Semitic. Jews can have the same culture but be ethnically (ie. genetically) diverse, agreed? Similarly, genetically similar peoples can be culturally different, yes?
The term Caucasian is still popular, but it’s fallen out of favor anthropologically because it’s meaningless. It’d be just as meaningless to lump all Jews together. Many Israeli Jews are of more Mediterranean ancestry, and they look like the Arab people in the region. I don’t think you can tell them apart physically. Other Jews are of European (especially Eastern European) descent, and they don’t look like the Jews descended from the Middle East. Whether the two groups are related at all is in dispute.
No, that word has not had any anthropological currency for many years. The peoples of the Caucasus are as ethnically diverse from, say, North Europeans as they are from Jews, Slavs or Arabs. Similarly, “white” is merely another arbitrary taxon with no particular anthropological merit.
