I went to the Hessler Street Fair last weekend, a hippie fair with food and tables for groups.
I carried a bag with about 20 pounds of Libertarian pamphlets for the Lib table.
This was given to me by the Birch guy (it seems most Birchers are Libertarians).
Well.
I looked in the side pocket, and there was something called the David Duke Report.
It was an article about Evangelical Chrsitians and the Antichrsit (which i just looked at the the web page of his).
It mentioned Judaism being pretty darn horrible.
So, does this mean that the Birch Society is anti-semitic, or is it just theis guy (who is the "chairman of NE Ohio).
If so, I am outta there.
I assume the Libertarian Party if not anti-semitic or in agreemnt with this Duke character.
I do believe that Birchers do consider the “International Jewry” (sometimes knows as the “Evil Zionist Cabal”) are indeed part of the “Grand Conspiracy.” I don’t know their opinions on the rank and file Jews, but they definitely don’t like the ones who are trying to take over the world.
What that has to do with the Libertarian Party is a bit of a mystery, since I’ve always considered Libertarian Party-ites mainly Republicans who also want to legalize pot.
Heck.
This guy doesn’t even believe that nowadays, anyone can prove they are the True descendants of Abraham.
I guess thats news to all the Orthodox Jews, then.
!!!
The Birchers have strong ties to the Christian Right, but I am not aware that the John Birch Society has engaged in Jew-bashing or that they are normally considered anti-semitic.
Their web site
I would be more likely to believe that, as a fringe group, they occasionally pick up people on the fringes of other groups, some of whom are anti-semitic.
It’s been a long time since I’ve given it any thought, but I’ve never heard anything good about the John Birch Society. I’m very left-wing, which I suppose has a lot to do with it, but my impression is that they’re just short of neo-Nazis.
David Duke, on the other-hand – a (former?) KKK member who ran for the Senate from Louisiana, if I remember correctly – is certainly an anti-Semite. I’d always gotten the impression that the Birchers were as well.
I’m a registered Libertarian, and I can tell you Libs are NOT anti-Semetic, at least not as part of the offical party line. I can’t speak to individual members, but I know I’m not anti-Semetic.
Heck, you can worship dog poo, and as long as you’re not hurting anyone else, Libs don’t care.
Did you ask the guy who gave you the bag about it?
Yes. I mentioned Duke’s comments on Judaism being the worst religion ever- etc.
He said the truth isn’t pretty or something like that.
I know anti-semites could be in the Birch Society, but this guy is the Chairman for NE OHio.
He also thinks we should cut all monetary aid to Israel.
As for David Duke, he is a first class nutjob, as in KKK nutjob. I believe he ran for Governor of Louisiana. The guy that won that election ended up in jail for corruption.
Well, hold on there, Jonathon. Libs believe we should cut off all monetary aid to all countries. If individuals and private corporations wish to provide aid to countries, all well and good, but the taxpayers should not be forced to do so.
That line about “the truth isn’t pretty” is somewhat troubling. You may want to consider dropping a line to the state LP. We have enough kooks (re: the guy who turned himself blue with collodial silver) without having to deal with potential neo-Nazis too.
But you put together the anti-semetic literature, the ‘truth ain’t pretty’ comment, and the Duke stuff and I’d say vanilla’s contact has pretty much made it clear where he stands.
