Anti-vaxxers are ignorant scumbags that kill children

You sound judgemental because you seem to say only certain population should get the hpv vaccine. But since it’s spread through skin contact and sex, basically it’s a vaccine that everyone should get, so what you say sounds weird.

Somebody who advocates the vaccine is only required for sex workers is not making a moral judgment?

Yeah….not feeling bad at all about my reading comprehension

Yep. Teens are going to exhibit normal human behavior, and they will be at risk. Many/most will not know this. And how are they supposed to get vaccinated without the permission/knowledge of their parents? In most states, parental consent is required. They’re going to go unvaxxed, when the vax is available. It should be a mandatory vax. I fully believe that if it were a male-only vaccine for a male-only cancer, this would have already happened.

Looking for a few suggestions:

Bear with me, I’m having a polite conversation with a longtime friend who vaccine hesitant*. She asked me to review An Inconvenient Study, and I said I would. Having to do it in bits and pieces. My thoughts so far are that Del Bigtree is a very dubious source, the time stamps on the interviews bounce back and forth suggesting creative editing like the Planned Parenthood videos, 18000 vs 2000 is a lousy sample set, 0 ADHD cases in the unvaxxed set is a dubious finding, and the recent Danish study, which is much more robust, found the opposite. Anything I’m missing?

*I care about my friend and fighting ignorance, so please don’t tell me to just give up.

Googling “debunking an inconvenient study” brought up numerous reputable sites with great explanations, including

Hate to say it, but anyone who turns to Del Bigtree for vaccine knowledge is beyond the “hesitant” stage and into antivax ideology. Attempts to reach such a person are likely to be as successful as addressing racial harmony with a person who’s getting their info from Nick Fuentes.

As noted, there are fine sources debunking the “inconvenient study” crap. If she ignores them she’s beyond hope. Direct your energies to more useful outlets.

*Del Bigtree is known, among other things, for telling fellow antivaxers to use their “Second Amendment rights” to get their way, and for nearly hemorrhaging to death from internal hemorrhoids while refusing transfusions, because he was fearful of receiving blood from vaccinated people. You might ask your friend if that kind of logic resonates with her.

If you hate to say it so much, feel free not to.

I found an interesting demonstration of the difference between correlation and causation. Ice cream sales correlate with forest fires. But, ice cream obviously is not a cause.

Del Bigtree, commenting on how Covid-19 is no worse than the common cold and saying that if you’re at risk from Covid, it’s your own damn fault.

Feel free to bang your head against the wall.

*Del looks to me like he’s downed more than a few cheesesteaks.

This is the exact kind of thinking that led John Fetterman to ignore doctor’s advice for years, not take medicine he was prescribed, and suffer a stroke.

(My bolding) So there IS such a thing as Cosmic Justice.

No, I did not say that! I have said, here and elsewhere, that while I personally recommend it for anyone who is eligible, it should not be mandatory for things like school attendance. Got it?

A walk through a 19th century graveyard is always enlightening for the people who think that modern medicine is killing people. You don’t need any advanced math to calculate ages for people who died at 2, or 3, or 5 - and you’ll find plenty of them there. NeedsCoffee could also refer his friend to people like Benjamin Franklin, who regretted his delay in vaccinating his son for the remainder of his life, which was much much longer than his son’s: “In 1736 I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the smallpox taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation.” For that matter, why are the vaccine companies not still selling the smallpox vaccination? What changed in the world, such that such greedy folks aren’t still flogging that product? It is mysterious, is it not?

Mysterious indeed!

I do hope the vaccine manufacturers still have the recipe for the smallpox vaccine.

Then how will teens get it without parental permission?

@outlierrn, you mean, and I believe outlierrn is a she.

Thank you - and sorry about that. Judt call me “needssleep”

I don’t know about the recipe but I believe both Russia and the US have some live vaccine stored away in medical facilitates.

Work has been done on a universal poxvirus vaccine, to work against smallpox, monkeypox etc.

Well, I’m a boy nurse, in case anybody cares.
